What to wear after surgery- TAH
Princess,
I bought a couple of lounge pants, 3 night gowns, 2 night shirts, and a new robe. Buy them larger than normal, and look for the softest items you can find. Your tummy may swell a bit and you will want to wear soft comfortable things. I had a TAH and my tummy still swells in the evenings after I work, so the larger than normal and super soft clothes still feel really nice.
Good luck to you!

You don't say what type of hyster you are having, so that is where you need to start. I had a TVH with perineal stitches - so didn't want anything pressing against my crotch. If you have a TAH - you won't want anything that presses against either a vertical or lower abdomin incision - so go for "higher" waistbands.
Go for comfort - Lounge (or loose fitting) pants or dresses were great - forget the jeans or slacks with zippers for a while!
Happy shopping!

I had some tracksuit pants (sweat pants to you guys?) that came up round my waist and loose everywhere else. Still put them on when I get home from work.
Big undies are good too if you have a vertical incision.

What to wear after surgery- TAH
I am not a big fan of sweat pants -- guess I am a little old fashioned ( can not stand the people that wear their jammie pants out in public either ) sorry digressed there.
I found that hospital scrubs with a ties waist works well -- I bought them one size bigger than normal because they tend to run big any ways -- but I could get them on and off without any help --
and I did not feel like I was wearing jammies when other people were around.
Hope that helps
Best wishes on a speeedy recovery

What to wear after surgery- TAH
Hi Princess G
Haven't had mine yet but wanted to be safe and hadn't really found anything with a waist I was comfortable in so I bought a whole stack of soft summer dresses. Nothing flash, very Woodstock! The kind with an empire waist that manage to hold in the boobs as well!! I was going for simple and easy.
I live in Australia and it's getting hot here as well. So comfort on a few levels were factors.
Oh.. and the granny undies. Apparently a must.

I hate dresses and skirts so I have stuck by with lounge pants and capris. I never had a problem with them rolling down.
Buy some without elastic - those were my favorite for the first few days! Big t-shirts with them were good.
I also liked having a nightgown/night shirt to sleep in.
Old Navy has some really comfy lounge pants I found this week.
Make sure you buy some granny panties - in a size or two bigger - they have been WONDERFUL (Never thought I'd say that) since having my surgery.

HI- I had the abdominal with a horizontal incision. I advise you to spend ALOT of your recuperation in pj's-- it visually reminds people that you are NOT 100%. I ended up with a set of GAP pj's that look more like lounge-wear! The pants have an elastic waist & are capri length. The fabric is very soft cotton. I got 2 tops-- one is camisole-style, the other a v-neck. I have spent ALOT of time in this outfit--- having 2 tops is great. I often wear both!
My other at-home outfit is based on a pair of GAP leggings. I also wear a spanx-type underwear. The extra support seems protective! I suggest buying some of those, too.
I also have been using my Danskin gym shorts (like lycra bike shorts). I wear them at home & under dresses/skirts when I go out (for dr. appointments or a walk). The idea of a tight waistband is unappealing!
Good luck...
