Hospital bills!

My bills including the surgeon, hospital stay and anethesia come to a little over $16,000. this is before my insurance negotiates a lower rate though. Still waiting on that to happen to determine my out of pocket expenses. I live in NC so that might make a difference as to why my bill is less than others and more than some.

Hospital bills!

My hospital bills from my surgery on 11.14.07, were just finialized and man was i surprised. The anethesiologist total bill was $1,449.00, the hospital bill was $21,534.25. My portion to pay is $300.00 for hosp and $166.54 for anes... If it wasn't me having those outpatient surgeries in the beginning of the year; I would not have met my insurance out of pocket of $1000.00. I would be responsible for paying more....

Hospital bills!

I'm still waiting on most of my bills. I haven't heard from my doc, at all. I'm sure it's coming, but my insurance is covering, as stated, in my policy, so far. For now, I owe the hospital $100 and less than $10 for a preop chest Xray.

The Xray bill came from an unknown company to me in a city over 100 miles away. who knows who really owns all of these medical companies?

Hospital bills!

Hi, my surgery came to a total of $36,401.88. This includes hospital, surgeon, anesthesiologist and labs. I thank God for my husband's insurance, we only had to pay $350.00 for everything up front. I am praying for everyone having to come up with more and those who are fighting insurance companies. I know from personal experience that hospitals and insurance companies make billing mistakes, so it is worth pursuing an investigation.

One time, I took my daughter to the emergency room, our out-of-pocket was only supposed to be $50.00. Even though they copied my insurance card, they sent the info to the WRONG insurance company. It took me about 2 months to iron out that mess and make a lot of phone calls.

So, be persistent and get legal advice if necessary.

Love, GinGin

Hospital bills!

Coincidentally, I just got my insurance statement today. I was shocked. The total bill for the surgery was $21,489.91, but I only had to pay a $75 copay. It's amazing to me that the insurance company manages to settle the bill for so little. It looks like all it had to pay was a little under 3,000, which amazes me considering the total. I'm just glad to have my good education insurance! I don't know how I'd manage otherwise!

The pathologist, physician and his/her assistant will likely be billing you too

Hospital bills!

I do not have health insurance - so my surgery was more than a bit devasting.

My hospital bill was $14,000 with one night in the hospital.
I did have to give the hospital $7,000 up front before surgery and pay my doctor in full.
I was not eligble for "assisted" care...

$1700.00 for my OB/GYN and another $1500.00 for the anthesiologist.

Be thankful you have any sort of insurance! It bites when something happens like this.

I do thank God we have good medical insurance, if not we would be bankrupt by now. The doctor's visits keep on coming for both myself and my daughter.
