Hospital bills!

My bills for the surgery total a little over $42,000. But that is for both docs, the castle, and all the lab charges, and the anesthesiologist. My insurance only pays 80%, so we figure we owe around $8,400. We are still making payments, and now we have the expense of another hospital bill~~~my son is in Children's Hospital; just diagnosed with bone cancer. We have been here 2 weeks, and he has had one chemo treatment. We will also have the expense of all the medical supplies they send to our house for care of his broviac! Oh well, I guess it is only money!!

Hospital bills!

Kristi, I'm so sorry about your son. What is his name and how old is he? I will keep you all in my prayers.
How are you feeling since your surgery and reconstruction? I hope you can find the rest you need during this difficult time.
Blessings....

Hospital bills!

I don't understand the huge differences in hospital surgeon bills. My hospital bill for an LAVH, 1 night private room, lab, drugs, etc. was a total of just under $9,900. The surgeon, anesthesiologist & assistant surgeon was under $3,900 (included 3 post op appts). I have paid about $500 total with my insurance but I am fortunate about having a great plan. Nonetheless, the total bill is still way less than many sisters here. My hospital and service was a great experience. I don't understand how the higher charges are justified to the insurance companies.

I am so sorry to hear about your son Kristi. I cannot imagine the pressure you are under at this time. Stay strong and I will pray for him too!

Kristi,

I pray God will bless your son David with a complete remission. I pray that you will heal soon and that all the medical bills will be paid for by the Grace of God.

Well I just got the bill for the extra CT scans and lab work etc. for $8,900. I am glad my insurance covers most of this because the anest and surgeon bills aren't even here yet! No wonder insurance is hard to get. I know I was at a major university teaching hospital and I saw many different doctors but this is crazy.

Hospital bills!

Sunny,
The Dr. put me on Premarin the day after the surgery. Amazingly, I haven't had any mood swings or hot flashes! (yet?)
My heart and prayers go out to all those in San Diego who have lost their homes in the devastating fires. Thankfully we live in an area that was not in danger, but know many who have to rebuild their homes and lives.
Blessings to all of the Hyster Sisters - I'm so glad you are all here!

I feel good on the Premarin too!! I was placed on Climara patch after surgery and now I have dry skin in that area!! Yuk!

Glad that you are keeping safe. Sorry to hear about others in San Diego because of the fires.
