Hospital bills!

Luv2Knit: You must have a really good insurance company!! That's great that they paid all of it. I just wish that ALL insurance companies would do that. So far I am saddled with paying nearing $1300. My insurance company SHOULD have paid for it all. Afterall, it wasn't like some unnecessary surgery. (In my opinion!)

Hospital bills!

I haven't received any insurance info or bills, but have wondered. The only thing so far just said that my insurance approved my surgery. I got a statement for my vaginal ultrasound. It was confusing, so I'm not sure about the total cost.

As mentioned, there will probably be statements from all sorts of medical folks (probably some that you never saw).

Hospital bills!

total bills 10/4 thru 10/23 $35,435.82
ins. write off $24,573.98 (this just kills me!)
ins. actually paid $ 7,971.27
billed to 2nd ins. $ 2,461.53 (still pending)

What a scam! Do they really charge this for people with out ins.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Somebody is making money some where, it isn't fair! THANK GOD I HAVE 2 INSUANCES!

My 1st surgery (I still owe) is costing me about $ 2,000.00. That bill was over $18,000.00. I didn't get 2nd ins. till Oct. 1. It will be very interesting to see what the 2nd ins. pays on this surgery! Needless to say, if I didn't have ins., there is no way I could have done this surgery as we are already financed to the max & can barley make ends meet now as it is.

This was for a TAH/BSO, hosp. stay 10/17/ to 10/19 & no complications requiring any futher hosp. stays or dr. visits or treatments.

Hospital bills!

I still owe the $2400 to the surgery center for my surgery! I haven't been home much to pay, (I need to call them), and I am not sure how much I can pay anyway! We are still not sure how much of my son's bills are going to be covered by our insurance. We are at Children's Hospital in Oakland; but his surgery will be at UCSF in January. We go see the surgeon on Tuesday; have already seen him twice; but haven't seen a bill from him yet! We will see how much his limb-salvage surgery is!!! Hospital bills~~~grrrr. And our insurance is NOT that great!! Oh well.

Hospital bills!

I haven't received any bills yet. I did get one statement from my insurance company that states how much they paid the surgeon and how much I'll have to pay, which appears to be $400 for him alone. I don't know how they calculated that as a copay. I'm not looking forward to seeing the bills, I'll probably pass out! My outpatient gynecologic laparoscopic surgery in May was billed for $45,000, so I can't imagine how much this is going to be!!! I'm figuring twice that amount.

Hospital bills!

I got my statement last week the was almost 51,000.00. I'm sooooo lucky and I thank God I don't have to pay anything. I would only pay $100.00 if I went to E.R. My husbands job pays for our medical insurance.

Hospital bills!

I am curious to know just what mine cost. I didn't pay a cent because it is covered under my provincial and extended health insurance but I would be interested in what the cost is here in BC Canada vs The States. We aren't sent a statement if we don't have to pay out. I was in for 2 nights and 2 days, went in wednesday at 9 am and was released Friday at 10 am. That was 6 fabulous months ago now!

You should have co-pay and co-insurance on your policy. Co-pay is the amount that you are expected to pay, out of pocket, prior to the insurance company paying anything. Co-insurance kicks in after the co-payment and/or deductible. It is a percentage of the amount the insurance company will pay of the bill after the deductible and co-pay have been met.

Many policies have a cap on the as well as to how much you will pay out of pocket. On mine, the most I would pay, out of pocket, is $1400 per calendar year. My co-pay is $10 and my deductible is $250.

Whew, this took me back to my insurance agent days! Blech.
