I cant pee straight!

3 weeks after my TAH/BSO/Burch for my bladder surgery I can no longer pee straight, It goes everywhere but no stream. ITS hard to get a clean catch for my UTI tests I have had to take the past 2 months! Anyone else with this issue? My Dr says its still early in recovery so its a wait and see thing. I dont like it.. I wonder if its scare tissue... I have UTI issues but lab keeps telling me Im with in limits so no meds. I finally had to get an AZO UTI test and it tested postive... so back to the lab for test number three! For the past week I have had urge issues and then cant seem to go but tiny bit... . tell me thats normal limits FOR PETE SAKES!! UGH, Thanks for any replies...

I cant pee straight!

I am 5 months out (TAH) and totally understand what your talking about. I still can't pee straight, nor can I hold it for very long. I have actually been standing there and all of a sudden start dripping, no signs that I even had to go. And yes, I get the urge and then have what I call stage fright (can't go). Otherwise, everything else has been good. Sorry I don't have an answer for you but at least I know now I am not alone!

I cant pee straight!

While I didn't have any bladder repairs, there have been times that I cannot pee straight. There was one point where I had to be really careful or I would've been making messes all over the bathroom floor! I'm not sure how scar tissue would affect you peeing straight, but I guess anything is possible.

in there and keep in contact with your doctor. If you're really concerned, schedule an appt with the doctor so the doctor can check things out.

I cant pee straight!

Kim thanks for the reply... well I figured if scar tissue was forming around the opening it may cause the opening to close up a bit causing the problem. I will wait and see I am still talking to my Dr about it...... thanks again for the reply.

I cant pee straight!

I also noticed that it's not so much a straight (?) line anymore the last time I was at the dr. No other symptoms though so not really worried about it.

I cant pee straight!

Scar tissue in the uretha can definitely affect the stream, as can inflammation. I think sometimes we get these problems from being catheterized. Swelling takes months sometimes to subside. Scar tissue, however needs to be seen by a urology surgeon. Any blockage in the uretha can cause the bladder to not empty completely or back up a bit which leads to chronic infections. I've had several uretha/bladder issues over the yrs beginning with a blockage in the uretha, that was a birth defect. When I peed, it sounded like a water hose with a thumb over it, it sprayed. It became a problem when I got married. I had chronic infections for 5 years! Finally, I went to a specialist who did a cysto, enlarged the uretha and removed the blockage. Hope this helps.

I cant pee straight!

Great info! Thanks.. If my last urine test is a NEG again, I will make sure I talk to the dr about what to do next, maybe it does just need time? Again thanks for the info..

I cant pee straight!

Well I tested positive for a UTI.. so taking meds for 12 days.. I have a small bladder too! I have always had to go to the potty more then anyone else at work after a cup of coffee or a coke with in 20 mins I HAD TO GO! I am sure you know that feeling.. SO after 3 tests, FINALLY they agreed I had a UTI.. my kidneys were hurting for a few weeks.. too. If I get anohter UTI, my dr is going to have me in to empty my bladder and then cat the rest of my urine to see if I retain much.. hate the thought of that UGH.. even though I have had it done a few times, I am not comfortable with tubes that I worry about being sterile going in my tubes/bladder you know? the last 2 times I had to do it I ended up with a UTI from it..
