UTI's or IC?

[quote=Presouz]Well I tested positive for a UTI..

Sounds like you've got a Dr. that's working with you, that's good. I've been told that if you have 3 or more infections in a year, it's time to see a specialist. I eventually ended up with interstitial cystitis. There's been some good info on it in the "semi-invalid" thread. It was under control before the hyst but has dealt me misery for the past 15 yrs. I, once again am not peeing straight either(it happened after 1st c-section). It seems like it took a few months before to normalize. So, yeah I'm in the wait and see mode too. Take care of you!

I cant pee straight!

Freespirit63, thanks for the reply, my dr. seems to be working with me but for Pete sakes, the lab tests were not clear for the last 2 urine tests, so I suffered for 2 months.. that is just wrong. I hope to be feeling better soon, I am thinking I have to train my bladder and myself to fully void, if I really try and sit there I can get more out... What a pain you know? again thanks for the info.. I sure hope I dont have IC how do you control it? Meds? limited food that can be problems with bladder? I read too much potassium can damage the lining of the bladder.. there is a lot to these bodies of ours you know?

Ic

That is why I mentioned IC. It's common to get neg tests with IC flare-ups. Then after continued irritation, you finally get an infection. But after the trauma our bodies have been thru, it's just gonna be awhile before the funkiness is gone. My urinating status sounds just like you. My IC is kept under
control currently by: Elmiron, lots of filtered water, no soda, tea or coffee ever, always pee after sex, and stress mgmt.

I cant pee straight!

I don't know if age is the issue. People keep telling me I'm young but I've been through a lot and I think its catching up with me and I feel much much older than I am. I think getting sleep is key to helping with stress, but I just can't seem to get enough.

Hi Presouz...sorry you are going thru so much aggravation....I also have chronic IC for years like freespirit...I have to avoid almost anything to drink other than my first morning cup of coffee and water all day...if I even take a sip of anything else it can set my IC off on a tailspin and it is painful and does feel much like a UTI.....but I just wanted to mention, besides the drinks and foods I avoid, I try not to stress too much, of course that is nearly impossible, but stress does tend to bring on my IC at times or make it worse when I have a flare-up...I am still battling with this after 20yrs, but I tell you, the stress of not knowing what it was the first couple of years, and having the tests come back neg, etc..nearly sent me to the looney bin...LOL....the more I stressed the worst it got......I still have to go for another cystoscope on Nov 6th since I am now seeing the uro/gyn that did my surgery in Aug and she won't give me any meds for it until she sees for herself, even though I have tons of records....oh well, good luck to you..hopefully the meds will clear it up and you won't have to deal with it again...I also found I have to pee right after sex to flush out the urethra, I avoid baths and only shower as the baths can allow bacteria to get up into the urethra....so hopefully your stream will straighten out and it may have only been caused by immflamation

I cant pee straight!

Blooming Rose..SLEEP IS THE KEY TO LESS STRESS!!!!! Stress has been a part of my life ever since I can remember, never used to be an issue, I actually used to thrive on it. I Loved the rush of adrenalin that ran though my body when I was stress/challenged you know? NOW SO different!!! I have no stress coping tools left in me... I can really feel it now and take ativan about 4-5 times a week if I Need to curb my stress.... and I have a teenage DD, soon to be 16, in the dictionary I believe the main definition for "teenager" is STRESS.. ha ha ha... she is really a good girl but yeah a teenager, getting her permit next week UGH...

I'm still trying to come to grips if I need to use HRT or not, being 51 its seems I shouldn't need any. I used a few patches of low low does and this last one caused itching and little dry bumps, it came off after only 3 days, this had not happen the 5 times before.

Anyway I was not sleeping well for a few years before and 2 months after my surgery and I know now after getting some ambien from my OB I am SOOO MUCH better off now that I sleep at night. I have cut way down on my ativan for stress, used to take it daily.... Sleep has really been the KEY for me!!! I wish my regular doctor would have gave in and given me sleep aid years ago would have saved me a lot of medical problems caused from lack of sleep, she just gave me ativan to take at bed time, it didnt work for sleep... only my daily stress... I take my Ambien when 8-9 hours before I wake up but don't take it on weekends and I do tend to sleep better then before even when I don't take it, I am truly hoping my body will get trained to sleeping better without meds... ... it feel so good to get a full nights sleep!

I cant pee straight!

oooh presouz, methinks you're gonna be needing to be downing lots and lots of cranberry, and any other thing to make your urine/bladder an unfriendly place for bacteria to be growing, so you (crossed fingers???) don't have to go having a catheter pushed into your erethra again. its just another trauma to your body that you just don't need eh?

when i went to the castle, i took some antibiotic cream i had left over from a bout of vaginitis (clindamycin), and slathered in on my vulvar area as soon as they took the catheter out, and each time i went to do wees. i don't know if it helped, or i just go lucky, but, i'd do it again if i ever get unlucky enough to ever need another one. UUUGHH......... anyway, i do hope your problem resolves..........keep on hoping......gee.
