Thank you all for your wonderful support and prayers. I had the LAVH with ovaries removed on the 23rd. The surgery went well and I am coming up on my first post-op doctor appt tomorrow. I'm trying really hard not to do too much around the house and to take things easy--but, it's been a challenge. My husband has been so wonderful and he is treating me like a queen.

I've had some tearful momments since the operation that have really caught me off guard. The doctor has me on a hormone patch, which seems to be working out great, but, I'm having the hardest time keeping the thing on. Does anyone wearing the patch have some suggestions?

Thanks again for all the support. This website is truly a blessing!!

Where may I ask can I find that article. I figured my body and ovaries must be in grieving kinda how is it after you have a baby. Your body feels it's lost something, even if your holding you baby, body still feels empty. Could that be how mine feels after losing uterus and cervix?

"Everything will be alright. I know by Valentine's Day we'll all be looking and feeling much, much better!!"

VALENTINE'S DAY?!!! Crap! I was thinking more like Thanksgiving!

On the upside, I'm thinking the flashes are starting to subside, and slowly but surely I know I will process these crazy emotions...

I had my surgery on 10/24 - everything removed including the omentum due to stage 11c cancer found. I had my left ovary and tube removed last April due to a benign cyst. We really didn't expect the cancer to show up now. So, between those emotions, lack or hormones and such - I have no idea what "normal" feelings are at this point. I had an horizontal laparotomy with 38 staples. I will meet the oncologist next week to determine when chemo starts.

Does anyone know if chemo slows the hysterectomy recovery??? I am just starting to feel like I can get out an about for short spurts and have finally been able to start sleeping on my side a little bit.

As for sex - I couldn't imagine doing that right now. But again - weird emotions. I am 46 and used to exercise 5 - 6 days a week. Sitting sucks. I hope I can do a bit more during chemo...

Try fruit smoothy drinks for helping things get moving. I use some frozen sugerless berries, a half a banana , ice and mango nectar . A little water if its still too thick. Blend till smooth and it seems to help. You can vary it with any fruit, a little yogurt or frozen yogurt, add flax seeds, bran, etc.
I still take the colese and a magnesium supplement called CALM. It helps you absorb calcium, it helps relax your muscles and it help loosen bowels. You can find it on line or at a health food store. The constipation could have something to do with the pressure. Things get backed up and hurt in some of the bends in your bowel. You should probably check with your Dr. on some of this before trying. Dont be afraid to call them with lots of questions.
I would like to hear more about these hats and caps. If you have the energy can you tell me more?

I had my TVH on Oct. 26th and I think I may be experiencing a little leaking too. Or maybe it's still a bit of drainage? Before this I would get a bit of stress incontinence right before my period, but it wasn't much of a problem. My doctor said having the TVH shouldn't cause any bladder problems...I hope he's right.

I asked my Dr about the incontinence because I was so worried about it after rreading everything.

I had a TVH on 10/23, by the way

He said that anyone who has surgery in that area should do 80-100 kegal exercises a day and if you do that-- it won't be bad.
