Sandy- I am still having BM's that you could describe as an "event." Exceedingly painful. I don't think I am drinking enough water so I am going to try to work on that. I drove for the first time today to return some movies to blocbuster and that was pretty hard. I am just recovering slowly. What can I say. Luckily I get a good amount of leave from work. I cannot imagine if I had to go back to work and had to poo at work. I think the screams of pain might be off putting to our clients! There is a big Christmas Shopping event they have in Houston every year I would like to go to. It takes up the whole convention center. I really need to get out. My husband wants to rent a wheel chair and take me. I would still walk some but I could ride or rest in between booths. Isn't that pathetic.

Golfgal27, that's a great idea for the convention center. I don't think it's pathetic at all--especially since shopping is involved. Hubby will like that you can hang the bags on the chair instead of him carrying them. We have something like that this weekend (smaller scale though). My girlfriend is picking me up and we'll go for a little while. Trying to save up my energy for it. No wheelchairs, but plenty of chairs around to sit if I need to. Hope the BM improve. Nothing like a little anxiety when you need to go.

Hi Daniellecolman,

I am at 2 1/2 weeks (almost 3) post-op, and this week I have been very depressed and teary - I think the "hormone withdrawal" is kicking in - I can't take HRT.

I still do get tired, too, but I can't seem to really sleep during the day, just catnaps.

I do find that when my incision starts to feel sore, and my belly starts to feel swollen, it helps if I lie down.

It is hard to have patience with this recovery process, but that is what we have to do. Whenever I have a question about what I am supposed to be doing, or not doing, I go back and read the post-op checkpoints, and that helps me know what to do to take care of myself.

It also helps to read all the posts and realize that everyone seems to be going through very similar things, especially the emotional roller coaster, and that it is normal.

Yesterday, I let myself do a lot of crying and whining and grousing out loud (my poor DH had to listen to it all), but for me, getting it *out* really helps in the long run. It helps me accept this situation and to talk back to the negative thoughts. I have relied heavily on emailing friends asking for support, too.

take ggod care of yourself, danielle, and hope you have some better days.

Hey GolfGal/Yukifriskee-

I think it sounds great to go to the convention center - a wheelchair is probably in order. It will probably kick your butt afterwards, but it sounds like so much fun, and a great distraction! I went out yesterday to take my kids to their diabetes checkup appointments - I didn't like that too much - the furniture was too uncomfortable, and it's still hard to sit in one place for very long because of my rectocele repair. It also makes me really tired to be out for very long, say an hour or so-

Are you having pain in your bowels before you have a BM, or with the actual BM itself? I still have some pain right before, when I can feel it going through my lower intestines. The actual BM itself doesn't hurt anymore. I use peppermint tea to for extra gas and to help the BMs move through, and it really works. I also got a really cool bowel recipe from my doc - mix 1 cup of applesauce, 1 cup of prune juice, and 1 cup of unprocessed wheat bran, keep it in the fridge, and eat 2 tbsps of it each day. It doesn't taste too bad, and you can't chew up the bran - it's like having leaves in your mouth, so you just have to swallow the bran. I do it every day. Also, while I'm taking the antibiotic, I am taking acidophilus, because I don't like yogurt too much. That also helps. I have been switched from Vicodin to Percocet, and have found Percocet to be much more constipating, so I am having to work harder with that. I do think the stool softeners make me crampy just before a BM, though. That part I don't like!

It sounds like you are getting out some, and I think that's the next step I need to take is to take some chances and go out a little bit. Maybe today I'll go to the store for a few minutes and get some good food! I've just been afraid to go out -

It's right before my BM. The BM itself, doesn't hurt I'M like numb , I don't really know it's happening til I hear it hit(sorry for the graphics) I'm going fairly regularly it's just that pain right before. Will this go away or will this permanent. I hope not perm. What should or can I do w/ the pains.

Okay, I'm on day 11 and am feeling better every day! Finally walking 30 minutes around my park with my dogs and getting wore out.

I finally felt like cooking last night and made the most awesome pork chop with homemade applesause topping--YUMMY! My family was shocked and so thankful to not have takeout. I was a little tired after yesterday's activities but sleeping in during the morning really seems to help me recover. Nobody is here then and I sleep very well--it makes up for the late nights.

Darn!! I wish I could drive. My doc wont let me until I see her next Tuesday---ARGH!! I'm looking forward (and a little anxious) to seeing my pathology report and really going over what she found.

Has anyone else done that yet? Any unexpected news??

Best to all of you!

My pathology report came out fine which I was grateful for. I'm not doing quite as much activity as you. A few dishes, folding a bit of laundry and banking at the computer. My kids are thrilled I've started the Harry Potter series (on book 2 now) and I watched the movie "facing the giants" and had a good cry. When I'm up for too long my abdomen gets really tight and I know it's time to lay down. I don't sleep all that well because I have to wake up to move with all the pillows that surround me. Over all though, I feel like each day is a bit better. I have no ovaries and no HRT but so far it's been okay, just mild hot flashes (more like "warmings") and some emotionality.

I kept my ovaries, but am having wide mood swings. I lost my son 10 years ago at 17 to a car accident, florist calls today to confirm the usual grave blanket, I lost it for hours.
Yet I called the woman who I have babysat for, for 2 years the other day and put in my notice. I am tired of the lack of appreciation and I do wait sometimes weeks for my pay.
just wondering if the timing was was right or if hormones or going wacky?

Hi Ladies:

Same here with the painful BM's. I've never had trouble drinking a lot of water before but lately I just don't want it. I know I should drink it up!! I get this fullness with pain before the actual 'event'. I've also grabbed at the walls!!

I had my 2 wk appt yesterday and everything went well. My doctor says to keep taking the stool softeners and that it all sounds pretty normal. I am really dreading going to the bathroom!!!

Besides that, I'm just trying to hang in there. The day goes by pretty fast and suddenly (3pm) the kids are home and then suddenly its time to go to bed.

Hugs to all
