2 weeks 3 days recovery

Its been 2 weeks and 3 days since my TAH. I thought I was doing good , I was feeling better. But woke up around 3 AM last Tuesday morning freezing cold, I got up tp check the air cond. and started bleeding every where. I called hubby at work to come home for the kids and then I called 911. I was so scared I hardly remember talking to 911 op., the next thing I knew I had 4 very cute fireman I must say in my living room , I have to say they were the most helpfull people I have come across in a very long time. I was then taken by ambulance to hospital. I was put back in hospital for 6 days for a heavy dose of antibiotics of all things I had a staph infection, along with another woman. I was in so much pain. Brightside is the let me out on my birthday. I am really lucky , I had a great group of nurses and my DR. is a wonderful person. It just goes to show you what a terrible problem staff is in this country. My dr. told me the only thing that really helped my knock it out was the fact that I dont take alot of antibiotics...I never really get sick. But let me tell you staph os nothing to mess around with I have never been so sick in my life.

Hi my name is jennifer, New to the group. I had a supercervical abdominal hysterectomy Oct 29. I was feeeling pretty well until now. Maybe i'm doing to much ?? But this morning when I got up, I was really swollen. I have always had a fairly flat belly. I have never had a baby. Anyways, I now have a huge roll over my incision. Is this normal? will it go away? I am freaking out and getting a little depressed. I had my thyroid removed in april because of thyroid cancer, then Radiation in july. Now this, Im not sure what to be expecting at this point ? UGH.

Thanks for any input

Hi Jennifer,
When I was 22 (in 1982 -not sure of your age) I had cysts removed from my ovaries with an abdominal incision. At that time I had a really flat tummy, and after the surgery I had this weird bulge for about 6 months I think at least. But eventually my tummy did get very flat again (Although at this point in my life it is not!) so it will happen. Don't worry. As you read various posts and navigate the website you will see that you are probably moving right along as scheduled. It all just takes time.

Deanna1973-
I am so sorry all that happened to you. Was the bleeding from your incision or vagina? Did they say how you got the staph infection? So glad you are doing better!!

Ok so I had my TVH w/BSO on Oct. 22nd. The surgery center called at 6:42am and asked if I could come earlier they had a cancellation, so husband and I rushed to get the kids and us out the door, dropped the kids off at school and our toddler at my mom's headed for the hospital.

Arrived at the surgery center only to find out they didn't call the urologist to see if he could do the surgery earlier. Low and behold he was already at the hospital doing a procedure.

Husband and I were told for a TVH w/ BSO and a monarc sling I was scheduled for 1 1/2 hours of surgery, I went in at 9:30 am and would be in my room by 12 noon. Well 1 pm rolled around and no one had been to the waiting room to talk to my husband, he started to panic called the charge nurse only to find out there had been complications and I was now in the radiology department. About 45 minutes after his phone call my surgeon finally came out to talk to him. He was then informed that the hysterectomy all went fine until they went in to do the anterior repair they nicked my bladder, so everything else was put on hold. They sutured my bladder had to put a stent in my left ureter due to a blockage and then called it quits. I finally arrived in my private room at 4:30 pm. I complained nonstop of back pain and the morphine pump didn't touch it, until they gave me a double dose of pain meds.

I was nauseous and drifted in and out of sleep while on the morphine but they didn't remove it until Wednesday morning when I told them I wanted to go home. I was sent home with a catheter bag and was told to come back to the hospital on Monday the 29th for another IVP to check the blockage in the right kidney. I was then schedule for another IVP on Monday the 5th of Nov. right kidney is still blocked. Going back to the urologist this coming Wednesday and he is going to do a cystoscope at that time to see if they can find the opening to the right ureter.

Feeling good, emotions were bad the first couple of days but they are balacing out better now.

Wish me luck on Wednesday.

Had my TAH plus cervix, right ovary and partial left ovary removal on October 23rd. Recovery is going well but am starting to go stir crazy. I am getting so bored and my very supportive family is starting to buckle. I think they are getting tired of taking care of me. I feel bad to ask for anything so I just push myself and get it myself. I find that I cry at the drop of a hat. I feel so emotional. I feel like I will never be me again.

Had my TAH/LSO 10/23 have this horrible pain in my left side it subsides but then comes back and I feel like someone just punched me(have a high tolerance to pain, I think). It takes my breath away sometimes, I'm not doing a whole lot, just walking. I've decided to put a phone call into Dr. tom.
I know how you feel,vmohan11, I too feel bad about asking DH and DD for anything. They've been wonderful. I also feel like I'm on emotional rollercoaster, DH again, just hugs me, tell me he LOVES me and tries his best to comfort me. He keeps reminding me this is only temp. and it WILL get better. He'll be there every step of the way. Hopefully soon WE WILL be us again.
