Glad to see activity on our post-op section... I was TERRIFIED of intercourse. I was 6 weeks post-op after TAH/BSO on 12/7 and it took about 3 attempts and finally a couple of glasses of wine to get me to relax enough.... it felt incredibly good to be close to my DH again. Still not back to full potential yet but certainly glad to know that everything seems to be working properly! Not really painful but a little uncomfortable. We have agreed to take it very slowly for a little while longer....

First time since operation - Sex

Hi Ladies:

Just thought I'd write to let you all know I had sexual intercourse -- and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My doc did say it was okay, but I was kind of fearful; just had thoughts about getting physically hurt (popping stitches) or bleeding. I was apprehensive. I guess I was just a bit too apprehensive so I decided to get it over with. It didn't hurt at all. (I think DH enjoyed it a lot more than I did.) There was no bleeding. The only difference, I think, was that I couldn't support DH's weight as long as before. I think that has to do with the incision.

I'm glad it's over with and now hopefully we can return to our regular routine (with no worries).

I wish you all the best ladies with your "first" time.

also doing well --

I had a LSH on 10/25 and am doing quite well. I still get fatigued by the end of a long day and especially by Friday. I am a self-employed attorney, so unfortunately did work at home from about 6 days after surgery, but only very part-time and only on the absolutely necessary cases. I went back to my office on 11/26, but only part-time. While I now wish that I had stayed home a bit longer (really not possible, being that I am self-employed), I am doing my best to work shortened days and trying to stay home one day a week, till the first of the year. I do still get emotional every now and again, but nothing like the first two weeks when I was still taking the narcotics. I will never take oxycodone again!! The swelly-belly is much improved, and I even started sleeping on my tummy about a week ago! But it is still swollen, and particularly at the end of the day. My doctor (and all my friends/relatives in the medical field) say that, really, full recovery including the swelly-belly and feeling totally back to normal takes 3 to 12 months. I am fortunate that my husband has been over the top supportive of me and that I have only a 17 year old son still at home, so I have truly been able to take it easy. I have decided to really curtail our Christmas decorating this year too. Even though I feel pretty darn good, the decorating is more than I want to undertake this year. This website has been so helpful and I am so glad I found it. I've referred lots of people here. Wishing everyone a continued good recovery and a happy holiday season!

I too had my LAVH on the 23rd of Oct princessjasmine. I am still having discomfort in the vaginal cuff area. Called the dr. and I am going to go tomorrow to make sure that the cuff is healed. When I went at 5 weeks she did silver nitrate application. hopefully everything will be ok I will keep you posted. I also have some discomfort if I move a certain way. This too has been getting better but I guess since everyone says 6 weeks we expect to be better by now. I haven't had sex yet and I want to go back to exercising which I did 6 days a week before surgery. I am still to uncomfortable inside for anything besides going to the bathroom........haha

Hi Everyone and greetings from Australia.

I had a little scare last Sunday which was nearly 5 weeks post op. I started bleeding again. Saw my doctor straight away and it turned out to be that one stitch had broken in half and was pulling on the skin. Otherwise everything was in perfect order and quite a relief. I go back to work next Monday 17th (just at the six week mark) and I am feeling slightly apprehensive. I am a psychotherapist so luckily I will be sitting down most of the time. I agree with msmlg, I too am not feeling like doing our normal Christmas decorations. Lovely to hear from all of you.

Finally had my 6 week post op today. She said I still had a stitch she could feel but cleared me to resume all activities. Called DH as soon as I left to let him know. The doc said I may have spotting over the next 4 weeks as the stitch dissolves, but that is I have spotting after that to let her know. I haven't had any spotting since I left the hospital though. The exam wasn't bad, though my lower abdomen was a little achy by the end of the day. I started back to work yesterday and that's gone well also. Tired in the evening, but not as bad as I thought I would be--of course I still have 5 more days of work so who knows what I'll feel like then! I felt pretty blue all weekend, but DH said it was probably due to knowing I had to go back to work this week. Took my DD to see "Enchanted" and that made me laugh.

Glad to read the updates on how eveyone is doing!

Back to work..

Great to hear from all of you .... glad everyone in general seems to be doing well. I went back to work this week. The first day was very tough.. I've actually needed Tylenol the last couple of nights which I haven't taken anything since about 2 weeks post-op. I just can't believe how incredibly tired I still am. But... all in all... I think things are going very well and progress is being made. I hate the swelly belly at the end of the day...but everyone keeps telling me I look great considering having major surgery. Just ready to get back to "normal" whatever in the world that is! Sex is progressing VERY slowly... much slower than my DH would like It is still somewhat uncomfortable and we haven't been able penetrate completely... not sure if that is my reluctance or if it's physical... anyone else experiencing that?? Go back to the doctor next week ... about 7 1/2 weeks post-op.. hoping he releases me to exercise, etc....

Merry Christmas to everyone!

I had my six week check-up and everything was healed up great! Got cleared for "relations with the DH," and that has been wonderful (a little worried at first, but everything is just fine). No more pain, no more bleeding--YEAH!!

Unfortunately, came down with bronchitis last week so it set me back a bit, but everything is great down below. Best wishes to all of you ladies in recovery! Happy holidays!
