Here I am sitting in bed. Day 4 out. I have not pooped either. It is causing me a great deal of pain in my tail bone area. But I am passing gas. So I think it is moving along, so to speak. I also have a catheter. I could not pee after two tries without the catheter so they sent me home with it. I go to my urologist tomorrow. I have to tell you , this has been much harder and more painful than I anticipated. I had a great deal of bladder related pain in the hospital. I read so many posts on here about how the waiting is the hardest part, that women did not have much pain after the second day, how they were walking around. None of that has been the case for me. It hurts a lot, the waiting was not the hardest part, I can barely walk due to pain in my rear. There, I said it. This sucks.

Golfgal27, Sorry to hear about the pain. You will get better! We are always here to listen. I took a dose of Milk of Magnisia 2 nights ago and that helped a lot. I may have to do that again tonight. I'm also going to have DH pick up a few juices at the store. A posting a while ago said "P" juices were good (pineapple, pear, prune, etc).

I'm 5 days post-op from LAVH. Got the stitches out today. It was nice getting out of the house for a bit. DH and I even stopped by a store to look at refridgerators (ours is acting up). Came home and took a long nap. Still having trouble moving my bowels. Walking slower than I thought I would, but still walking none the less.

I found by taking stoolsoftners and drinking lots of water my bms moved I did walk That may be difficult for you but it also helped withtthe gas. Are you taking pain meds? Golfgal,

I had problems pooping too! I got out of the hospital Friday and had a small BM and then nothing until yesterday. I thought I would explode and then yesterday I had three BMs and today so far one more. I feel much better. I have been using stool softeners since being released from the hospital and ensured I have lots of fruit and veggies.
Best wishes for movement soon!!

On the mend

Saw my Doctor yesterday to have the staples removed. Gotta tell ya, I was more nervous about that than the surgery. LOLOL It was a breeze...he and the nurse was talking and the next thing he said, "there's number one." I had no idea he had even done anything. In no time they were all out and I was sitting up ready to leave. I see him in two-weeks.

One thing that surprised me...when I went in the nurse said, "Lets check your weight." I wanted to say, "Lets not." I lost 7lbs. I couldn't believe it...the nurse said "I always like this part once a surgery like yours has taken place and enlarged uterus removed..." but 7lbs?! WOW Of course there were days with no food or just liquid...but 7 lbs! I hope I can keep it up and lose more weight. I guess if anyone asks, instead of saying "I've lost a dress size. I can say, I lost a uterus." LOLOL

So far no symptoms of menopause. I did have major sweats in the hospital, but I truly believe that was the morphine. Once I came off the morphine the sweats stopped. I asked the Dr about it and he said, as long as nothing occurs or I feel I need something we will hold off on hormones.

The best to you all!

This is just the most horrible tasting stuff! Yuck!
today is also one of my more painful days. .I'm not sure if I'm over doing it during the day or what. But I woke up very sore this morning.

I have found that riding in the car is painful. I havent DONE much but I have tried to "ride along". My body still doesn't like the car..

I don't knwo what I expected but I think I expected to be able to do more at 1 week post op. Why I feel that way? Who knows. They did say 6-8 weeks recovering but when I read stuff on here? I was reading that the TVH aren't "that bad" to recover from...
i had the constipation thing also. Until I took a tip from afriend who is nurse. She said to mix apple juice and prune juice 1/2 and 1/2 and heat in microwave. My husband brought home apple cider and prune juice after the 2nd warm cup I have had no problems at all, and really doesn't taste too bad either.

Does it taste better than Prune juice and ginger ale? Becuase THAT is nasty!

How much do you have to drink in order for it to be effective? And why does it have to be warm?

Anything warm is better than cold on your stomach and intestines. Husband got Musselmans 100% juice Apple Cider and regular prune. My friend told me to drink warm liquids until I got regular. She works in baby nursery and says they give all new mothers the concoction and they all do well on it. I couldn't imagine ginger ale and any fruit juice tasting good. ): I heated 8 oz of prune and 8 oz of the apple together and sipped over period of couple of hours I went comfortably before bed the same day. Hope it helps I was suprised how good that aspect of my recovery is now.

Anyone having the opposite problem with pooping? I have very little that is solid and suspect I'm still clearing the phiso soda from the bowel prep. Is that even possible? I did take a vicodin today so that may slow things down. I've gone back to a lighter diet as well. If nothing changes tomorrow, I'll call the doc.

Also, I have disolving stitches in my bikini line. Does/did anyone else have these and when are they supposed to start to "pop"? My pain is there, not internally, which is surprising. Pleasantly surprising but painful none the less. One was slightly more swollen than the others last evening and quite painful. I don't know if five days post-op is about the time they start disolving.

Hope you are all doing well and gaining strength. I am enjoying dh's zolt of insight as to all that I do around the house and with the kids. He's always been a good guy but has a newfound appreciation. lol. Men.
