Please help - back in hosptial with pulmonary embolism

They had venodynes on my legs until I moved the next day to go to the bathroom. They inflated so tight and so often, I had sore calves afterwards. When I complained about the calves they worried about PE. I am 2+ weeks post op, have been to my internist and still am concerned about PE even though doc said no, I don't have any symptoms except extreme anxiety which I have all the time.

Actually, yes, I wore the booties and was up and walking as soon as I was able following the near overdose of morphine. The doctor is thinking that as much as the surgery/inactivity is a risk factor, my post-surgical, fluid-induced anemia (hemo count of 6.3) was just as much to blame. I did not receive a transfusion, and have suffered multiple serious complications as a result of the surgery.

While I could be inclined towards complaining, I am still just thanking my lucky stars to be alive. And yes, not only am I home, but I put in a full week at the office last week, which was okayed by my doc.

Thank you all for the prayers. Maybe I'll start a "complications" thread...
to you all!

What a full week back in the office already??? You are an amazing superwoman. Your post says that you had your surgery on 10/15- is that correct? Plus the extra complications.....wow.
I would caution you to not take on too much too soon, but you have probably already rebuildt a car engine, wrote a book, and ran a marathon in your "spare" time.
Take care TNT, I will continue to slack my way through recovery and use the surgery card every time I can!

Yes, Hyper, my surgery was the 15th, the PE was the 22nd, and yes, I've put in a full week back at work. There's just a part of me that really desperately needed to get some aspect of my life back to normal, after all of these complications. It's been really emotional for me, and the guys I work with are wonderful, so it's great to be back, honestly.

Plus, I'm the sole breadwinner in my family, and I didn't want us to run out of bread!

Hi. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you are okay and able to go home soon. What happened? How did you know you had this?

6 days post-op.
