Had Hyst October 23..Pain Medicine??

I have been walking and drinking lots of water. The gas pain seems to be gone. However, lower it hurts and little spasms...the doctor gave me darvocet..it is not helping at all!! Any suggestions? I was wondering will hot flashes come? or will the patch make me not have those...I am just reading everything on here. I had full hyst. with 1 inch insicion in pubic area...then belly button..then one to left of belly button..and two across pelvic abdominal area. I spoke with nurse today she was very rude. Could not belive it...would love some advise. I would love to be hooked up to the pump again... any suggestions would be great ..thanks

I had hot flashes instantly after surgery. I started the patch and after about 2 days, those were gone. I havent had any problems since, but I just had my hysterectomy done on the 15th. Your doctor needs to prescribe you some Lortab or Percocet, at least until the pain is more manageable with Tylenol or Motrin. Im still taking Lortab and its been 11 days since my surgery. Darvocet isnt strong enough for me. Shame on that nurse for being rude to you. Thats a disgrace. I hope you get to feeling better real soon. You are in my prayers. We will get thru this.

Take a day and rest your body, maybe you overdid it. Try alternating Darvocet then 4 hours later take ibuprofen and maybe that will help you. Must listen to your body and rest when you have discomfort.

I had LATVH-BSO on the 23rd also, 3 small incision on lower tummy. did not have pain pump after surgery but was given demerol injections e 4 hrs, started percocet the 24th. I only took Advil last night for pain. percocet made me dream crazy stuff, didn't sleep well thursday night. Haven't had hot flashes either. Had 3 day patch on when woke up from surgery, started Premarin 1.25mg yesterday. Were you still having regular periods before hyster ? If so you still have your own hormones that are circulating. Over time that will cease and symptoms MAY come. Are you staying on the patch or will your doc change to oral replacement ?
Just take it an hour at a time, then a day at a time. Aleve alternating with the daracet may help better. the Aleve will help reduce inflammation and the daracet will control some pain.

Sorry you are in such pain. Since your nurse is being not so nice and you obviously deserve some pain meds that work I will tell you my trick. My rheumatologists nurse is mean so I wait until after hours and then I call and have the on call doctor call me back. It always works for me and eases my mind. Just tell the doctor that calls you back that you are in tremendous pain and the darvocet isn't working. You probably won't get your own doctor but at least you will be talking to someone who can help. Then you will know if you need to go to the er or just get a different script called in. I pray your pain subsides soon.

It is unbelievable that your pain is not being treated. If you cannot get assistance from your gyne, call your general practitioner and explain the situation.
