I Hate to Ask But....
I think I will feel better if I do.
I had a hysterectomy (Abdominal) on 10/16/07 with everything removed. Ovaries, Tubes, Uterus, Cervix. Surgery was a little longer than it was supposed to be as the ovary that had the cyst was tangled up in my intestines and my uterus was stuck to my bowel and so my doctor had to really straighten things out. Anyways, I am doing very well. My tummy is feeling good, it isn't nearly as swollen, I am finally able to have a bowel movement which was tough the first few days!!
My lower back seems to ache on and off but pain meds seem to help that.
My question is that I am having some bleeding. Not very much. I can go through the day wearing a pantyliner. When I do pee and wipe the blood is very dark and it is like small pieces of old blood. (I know it is awful and I am sorry)
It definitely has an odor to it. It has only been like this for a couple of days but I worry that I have an infection or something. Just wondering if anyone else has had this.
I go on Monday for my 2 wk. post op so I will be sure to ask my doctor.
Just wanted a little reassurance from my new friends here on the board!
Hope all of you have a great weekend and hope you are all doing great.
Hugs
"Weegie"

I Hate to Ask But....
From what I've read some sister have spotting/bleeding after their surgery, if you're at all concerned, then by all means call your dr. My dr told me I'd probably have some bleeding around 3wks mark but I've had nothing yet

weegie,
I too had to wear a pantyliner the first 3 weeks, changed it around 3 times a day, and that was more because of sweating than the other.
Blood was very light but also had an ordor. And from what I have read on here it's very normal for most of the women.

Could possiby be vaginal cuff healing but I would check with your doctor regarding odor. I have been having same brown discharge going on 4 weeks now and my gyne said that discharge can last up to 6 weeks so I am hoping that it will be over soon. You can search to right of new post screen and look up brown discharge and will find alot of posts on that.

I Hate to Ask But....
Weegie,
I had read on another thread that when the internal stitches begin to dissolve (starting around day 10) they can give a slight yellowish discharge and a different odor. I had not heard that from my doc or hospital and was glad I read that, as I have noticed a bit of a different odor the last day or 2 (still bleeding a bit every day, so not sure about the discharge).
Hope this helps! The last thing you want is for something to be amiss at this point...
