Wondering if anyone out there who suffer from RA? When/did you stop taking RA medications and when did you resume them after surgery. I had TAH/BURCH on 9/18 and my gyne and uro docs wanted me off methotrexate and prednisone before surgery so I stopped taking them at end of July. My rheum doc didn't feel that I should have to come off methotrexate but I opted to go w/surgeons wishes. Surgeons wanted me to have optimum healing process and that is why I stop taking meds. Now that I am almost 6 weeks postop I feel that I am pretty much out of the woods with healing and think that I should resume my meds. I have mild to moderate joint discomfort but nothing compared to the pain that I had with 1st flare-up 2 years ago. I plan to see rheum doc soon but wanted to hear from the greatest experts in the world---->the ones who are going through the exact same condition.

I have lupus and take metho and plaquenil and I started the metho at 1 week post op. Call your rheumy and ask, but I think it is ok. Good luck. There is a thread on the post op forum about autoimmune diseases and hyster if you wanna chat to others.
