Aches and Pains...Am I Crazy

Hi,

I am post-op 8 days. I have mild aches and pains everywhere.
My shoulder (left one) hurts. Can this be from irregular sleep patterns. My fingers are still. Bruises that I didn't have in the hospital are surfacing. Mild Headaches. Are these normal feelings. When I went to the doc yesterday, I told her my calves were a bit sore off and on but were always like that. She immediately had me buy surgical stockings because of DVT. A friend of mine came over yesterday, she's a PA in a hospital, she told me no way did I have an signs of DVT and my doc was overreacting (Doc seems to do that). I feel sisters know more than docs.
Am I just overreacting?

I would say that if you are concerned, that you should take a visit to the ER. I'm only saying that as a precaution. Seeing as you just had surgery, they would probably do a work up for any blood clots, not just the legs. I didn't have any clots in my legs, they did an ultra sound while I was in the ER. I did have shoulder pain though, and they did a CT scan and found a small PE. I'm not trying to scare you, I promise, but anything you find abnormal, needs to be checked out. This is just my opinion.

Lots of love!

Thanks,
Believe it or not I took an extra Xanax and now I feel okay. I should have mentioned I have panic disorder which makes than your body is. I was on pain meds for 24 hours post op. That's it. Needed a blood tranfusion last Sunday but bounced right back. All these little things I have experience before so my imagination is just running wild. ER will do nothing because my vitals are great and will get me more uptight.

AHHH, Yes, that'll do it! I'm glad you said that. Although a panic disorder is not at all fun, I know. Glad you figured out what worked though!

Tara, what is a PE? I also have bad shoulder pain in my left shoulder and have tingling down my arm at times.

Aches and Pains...Am I Crazy

I spoke to a good friend today who, teaches paramedics and is one himself, told me that when your body goes through such major trauma, as all of ours did with this surgery you become hypersensitive to any ache and pain. Believe it or not 2 weeks ago (on this coming Monday) I had a MRI with contrast. Today for the first time the site where they injected the fluid is tender.... Hypersensivity...Same thing with every vein they tried to get blood from, all feel tender. Gatorfan have you ever suffered from anxiety?

Pulmonary Embolism aka: blood clot in lung. It can be dangerous. Mine was small, but still bought me a couple of nights in ICU. I'm now on blood thinners and for the next few days, giving myself injections of lovenox in my belly. I also had a little shortness of breath with it, but my home health nurse said some women don't get any symptoms.
