Goose egg above incision?

I had a radical hysterectomy-bilateral salpingoo-oophorectomy on March 9th of this year. I started going to the gym about 5 weeks ago trying to loose some the fat I have gained and have been walking and also working out on some of the equipment. Anyway, my insides started feeling kind of funny a couple of weeks ago (kind of like a bee sting would be the best way to describe it) and last weekend I noticed a large "goose egg" looking swelling above my umbilical incision site. It is not red or inflammed, and it seems like it soreness is more to the right than directly in the swelling. I went to my Doctor Thursday and he is sending me for an ultrasound Monday morning.

I am just curious to know if anyone else has had anything like this? The Doctor isn't sure what it is, but is afraid it might be a hernia. Since I've never seen a hernia, I have no idea what they should look like. I have looked on the internet, but they mainly show the really large incarcerated hernias and mine definitely doesn't look like that yet.

Thank you for responding. I have an appointment Monday for an ultrasound, but I am just a little nervous this weekend. You know how it is when you try not to think about something!

the hernia's i've seen, looked much like what you're describing? usually you can "push" them back inside? maybe you've ended up with weakness in your abdominal wall? they should be able to repair it though. although, no doubt you would wish that it would repair itself? hopefully you will know of everything to you, and we'll keep hoping for you.........gee.
