gas!

Hi Sandybird.
I dont know about the corn oil never herd about that. But I do know you doont want to eat allot before the op. Just eat light I know you might be hungry but its best you dont over eat because its gonna hurt the first time after the surgery to have a BM. Im 10 day now since op and Im real sore. I went to doc and everything is healing great. I have less pain and less gas everyday. I even got the ok to babysit my new grand daughter as long as I dont lift her from the floor or crib . have to keep her at waist level. Good Luck hun Just take one day at a time and I will say a prey for you. Tina cappa Pa.

Sandybird,
I got the activia Yogurt ,
Yes it helps and my doctor told me that milk products and eggs will help in building tissue faster healing. you will get pain meds but after a week they want you to ween off them. I had stitches inside and they will disolve and on the outside I had tape that fell off after a week. the doctors are different and some use staples but Im glad mine dident they leave more of a scar. Good Luck hun when is your surgery for? Tina P.a.

Thanks so much! Surgery is Nov.19th. I am really scared about all this bowel cramping and problems. Didn't know about that. I do, however, want to be prepared. Thanks--i'll get yogurt. What about eating the day before?

It is good to know we are not alone in this situation, but it still doesn't make it any better. I am now just past two weeks and the gas is getting better, but still there. I take a stool softner every day and also eat those peppermint lifesavers (like 10 a day) to help with stuff. I have never been a sitter in the bathroom and have had to learn to relax in the bathroom and bring a magazine to read and that has helped a lot. Good luck to us all.

Hello Adecoder,
Im not two weeks yet but I too am finding gas getting better everyday.
I have been not having too many problems with bm but your right you cant rush it you have to sit awhile and take your time. Never try and strain after surgery you could break open stitches or hurt your insides. Good Luck in your recovery. Tina P.A.

Another one comforted that I'm not alone. Yikes. The first three days home from the hospital, everything was loose and went straight through. Things today were slower. Ugh. It is hard to be patient getting back to normal.

Hi Gals,

After my TVH, I have been eating Apple/Cinnamon oatmeal, yogurt, even some prune juice AND LOTS & lots of water.. these have helped me out & now it seems things are more normal now than before...

Hope this helps!
