Realistic Expectations

I am pending a TAH/BSO vertical incision November 19th. Realistically, how long will it take before I'll feel like doing things (or be allowed) or be able to go places, drive, etc?
I've got folks asking me about attending holiday functions the beginning of December and I don't have a clue as to whether I'll feel okay at that point. I know everyone is different, but any feedback would be most appreciated! Thanks!

Realistic Expectations

I was told that I could drive as soon as I was off the heavy pain meds -- could have driven sooner than I did -- but was taking it easy -- I was driving the end of 3 weeks.
I had surgery on Thursday and home on saturday -- the following saturday -- I was standing on the side of the road -- flagging cars past a wreck that my husband was towing out of the ditch. and then went to Canada the following weekend.

Everyone heals differantly -- so listen to your body -- the thing I felt helped me the most -- was rather than standing to talk to someone -- I found a place to sit down --

Keep positive -- it will help your recovery.

As for your friends -- I would say -- I have full intention to be there -- lets see if my body is recvered enough to allow it.

Best wishes.

For me, I didn't have the energy or even the desire to do or go anywhere for 2wks. I slowly started to drive closer to 3 wks mark. I found that even going out with dh to pick up something a the store was tiring up until 3-4wks.
I would say that going to holiday functions at the beginning of December might be a bit too much for you. I know everyone is different so you just have to listen to your body and not over due things.
