How Soon Before Surgical Menopause?

Hello all,

I just had my (davinci) TLH/BSO on Monday. I'm trying to wait 3 months before taking HRT in the hopes that my endometriosis won't come back.

I've heard some women feel the symptoms of surgical menopause almost immediately. So far, I feel better than I did pre-op. I had night sweats for the last 6 years after doing 10 months of Lupron...night sweats never went away when I stopped the Lurpon, now --- nothing! With the Lupron I had all of it pretty quickly - mood swings, crying bouts, hot flashes, night sweats.....now NOTHING!

Just wondering how soon you all started feeling the symptoms? I know we're all different, just trying to get an idea of what others have experienced.

Hi, Christine--I don't think there's a typical experience, but I'm going on three months, and I haven't had bad menopause symptoms. Some mild hot flashes that aren't too bad and don't last long; so far, that's it. I'm really hoping it stays that way...

I was going through it a few days after I got home from the castle! We are all different. I was told by a nurse that it would be about 3 weeks before I started the hot flashes. HA! That was a joke. They came fast and with a vengence. I am now on progesterone to help the hot flashes and dry up the endo. I will start on HRT 6 months after my surgery. I wish you the best!

Three weeks? Where did she get that from? I was having hot flashes while I was in the hospital!
