Hey Vicki--I had my TAH same day as yours and have not driven yet either. How did that go for you? I may try it tomorrow--stick shift. Hmmm.

Today some friends took me to the mall to get out. I wore jeans--low rise so there was less zipper and fabric at the incision area. It was not bad at all, but sure doesn't compare to the freedom and comfort of my jammy bottoms!!

JoEllen--I have some discomfort too if I can't go when I gotta go! I'm considering taking a stool softenener every other day to help. I stopped taking them each morning when things were definitely-soft! Maybe they will be helpful in moderation!

I am able to stay comfortable with 600 mg of Advil once or twice a day. Last night I was able to fall back to sleep after waking up several times. I've had a hard time getting a full night's sleep--seems once I wake up I stay up.

Besides that, all seems well!!
I feel your pain also.my 20 pound jackrussells maggie and lucy seem to think that my lap/belly is a spring board for some reason.I forgot my belly pillow one day as I was on the couch watching tv and lucy couldnt have landed any more on my incision if she tried!and it brought tears to my eyes!and i allmost passed out from the pain.she started giving me kisses and you could see in her eyes that she felt bad for making mommy hurt.I never go anywhere with out my belly pillow now.

I took the easy way and just ate the prunes
it is working just fine I just get tired easier then I thought.I kept my ovories but still having the hot flashes cannot wait for that to be over. melanie

This is my first post but I have been looking at the website since Aug when I decided I was going to have a hysterectomy. I first want to say that this site is AWESOME! I have been allowed to lurk in the background for 2-3 months. I have gained lots of great, useful information. I tried to make a donation but the confirmation screen did not appear. Anyone else with that problem? I had a LSH on 11-01-07 for fibroids, pain, menorraghia and anemia.

I had heart failure in 2002 and decided that I only wanted to go to sleep one time for any "procedures." So I never had any d&C or ablations or anything that was possible, because the docs said they wanted to put me to sleep and they could not guarantee they would work. I know that chronic anemia can affect the heart and I do not wish to return there.

I kept my ovaries and cervix. I stayed in the hosp 23 hr obs with morphine. Excellent stuff! My Doc is great and the hospital staff took excellent care of me.

I am doing pretty good, I had no post op gas and I attribute that to my no meat no dairy diet for 3 days preop. It was recommended by a friend and it worked for me.

I have had essentially no bleeding. The spots I had could all have been on one mini pad. I stopped spotting probably 3 days post op. I do have some of my regular vaginal discharge.

I did have burning searing pain on one side and my Doc says that was the side the morcellator was on. It still hurts on that side. I didn't really need much percocet after the first 3 days. The first day home was the worst. Ibuprofen worked best for me. I didn't take it much as I was on lovenox shots for clotting for the first 7 days.

My biggest problem, which seems to be getting better in the last day or so, was constipation and bowel movements. I had 3 enemas, 1 suppository, colace, dulcolax, prune juice, coffee oh my! I did go but it was HORRIBLE! Crying out, rocking, feeling like I was going to pass out. I did labor breathing, tapping all kinds of things! I could actually feel stuff moving through my intestines. It was grating the whole way through the colon. And then when it got there! Oh my, my, my! I kept thinking what can they do for me at the er. So I never went to the er but I wanted to. I came here and heard others having the same issues, so I was encouraged that I was not alone and this too shall pass. But the last 24 hours I have gone with just prune juice and colace. I still have build up pain but it is not as bad. Thank goodness.

My Mom stayed with me for 2 weeks and that was a real blessing! I don't think we (my family) could have done it without her! I don't see how I can go back to work in 4 weeks at this point, as my Dr suggested. I am an RN on a busy floor and I regularly push big people around on stretchers, wheelchairs and beds. I can't see that happening. He did say I could stay out for 6 weeks.

Sorry the post is so long. Thanks for listening fellow sisters.

great website that shows morcellator

Hey I found a website that gives video on laprascopic hysts and shows the morcellator in action. The morcellator is what is used to cut the uterus into pieces to remove it. The videos are pretty cool.

hi, I haven't driven yet, either. Surgery was 10/31. My car is a 5 speed. I just don't feel strong enough yet.

My MIL told me tonight that the whole family is coming for Thanksgiving. She wants to bring a zillion casseroles, etc. she told me that I wouldn't have to do a thing or we don't expect you to. I appreciate her generosity, but we've tried to get her to cut back on cooking for a few years. I just hate for her to do so much. My sweetie hubby and daughter will help.

I think my mother will come on a different day.

Hopefully, by Christmas, I'll be more up and about.
