I know what you mean. I have a high tolerance for pain, but I am learning that it is the duration that can get to you. Your not alone, I have been putting off calling the doctor for days now because I know my bladder infection has not cleared up and I need another antibiotic. The last one just made me feel so yucky I am dreading the new one...Ha! I'm being such a baby, today.

Nice to know I'm not alone

Surgery (complete lapo hysterectomy)went great according to everyone around me. I couldn't wake up for 7or 8 hrs. The morphene helped with pain but kept me knocked out, tried not atking it because i didn't want to sleep any more, big mistake pain cause me to throw-up. Terrible pain. Bowels and bladder stayed asleep for 2-3 days. Finally went home 3rd day. Ride home was awful should have brought the pillow they recommended. Gas pain defenitly the worst part of recovery besides constipation. Back in ER 5th day still no bms no blockage, doctor sent me home to do enima. If I never give anyone any other advice it would be this, here me, here me, NEVER EVER do an enima after major surgery like this worst pain ever felt worse than 3 child births with no pain meds. My husband sweetie held me while I screamed and cried. Do not sot is I promise it's terrible. Time is all it took and eventually bm's came very painfull but nothing as bad as the enima. Also descovered that hormone therapy is a must, thouught the hot/cold flashes would kill me, but hormone therapy has saved my life and my sanity. I accftually have more energy and feel less depressed since starting my hormones. I have felt great since the gas and bms have become normal. Stool softeners a must. Didn't even need pain meds after 6th day went back to light duty at my business on the 9th day. Was a little early. Should have waited, hard when your the boss. 21/2 weeks out now and i'm feeling really good. I just really miss intimacy with my husband. I love being able to share...

I had my surgery 19 days ago. I seem to be having a setback. I am having pain all over inside now. I have a pain on my right side, under my left breast, my chest. I'm beginning to think that I have other problems! Things had been going so well. I guess maybe I overdid it. I'm also having trouble sleeping at night. The first few nights I came home, it was because I just couldn't get comfortable, now I just can't sleep. Thank goodness for TV Land! I'm so glad that I haven't had the problems that some of you have had. Well, it's 11:30 my time, MASH is on TV Land guess I'll watch that! Hopefully I will get some sleep tonight sometime!

I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and also felt like i was having a setback. I have felt worse between week 2 and 3 than i did from week 1 and 2!! Doesn't seem to make sense, but they said not to worry, it is natural. I have found that simply resting more has really helped. Hard to stay down when you can see things that things need to be done, but i can sure tell the difference. Hope things get better for you. No sleep makes everything seem yucky. Hang in there....

hello: I woke up with a tremendous headache or i would have slept in a little longer. I took some regular tylenol and drank some coffee and ate breakfast. It feels better now.

I took a leap and weighed this a.m. I am one pound less than before surgery and before D&C in mid Oct. This is exciting! Now just to keep maintaining through recovery.

After having surgery for cancer, is it OK to still be concerned about weight? I'm sure it is, but it just seems weird.

lovetowalk: I don't think it's weird to worry about your weight... especially when you've worked hard to lose it.

I've got a cold for sure, but there hasn't been a lot of coughing, mostly my nose running endlessly (yuck) and just feeling achy and tired. I can't imagine throwing up. littlebrat, hang in there!

Tinatans, a lot of us struggled with bowel issues after surgery so I can understand your frustration. Those first few BMs were basically horrible. I cried. Now things seem to be pretty good. I've kept up with the prune juice. Guess I'll cut back gradually and see how it goes.

dirtytoo-- I had a setback at the beginning of last week. I was feeling great & overdid it, then that knocked me on my butt for a couple of days. I think this happens to a lot of us. Hope you eventually got some sleep.

I'm heading to the fabric store... we'll see how this goes. I have a short list. My plan is to go there and then come back home, rather than trying to complete all my errands today. This will be my first time driving. Wish me luck!

night sweats

Hey, amoureux,

Yesterday the doctor told me something about my ovaries that I didn't know. He said the ovaries normally get part of their blood supply from the uterus. So when they remove the uterus, they clamp off the blood vessels leading to the ovaries. He said this is partly why you can get the menopause symptoms even if you still have you ovaries.

Hope the night sweats go away soon!

Well I know why the dr's nurse didn't call me back. She couldn't catch my name or my number from my message... but she actually picked up the phone and I talked to her. The dr doesn't come into work until 1 today tho (WHY did I not become a dr??????) but she'll give me a call back later.... which is awesome, and I no longer feel neglected and ignored....

Next time I call the dr, I must remember to SPELL my last name, which is long, and can sound like a more common last name, which mine is not...
