I need to call the doctor about the pain in my left side. Not going away. It burns everytime I use any muscle in that area.

I need to go chase down my garbage can that blew away in the night LOL

Work is depressing! Got a call from my boss yesterday. He was concerned. I sound very tired. I guess I am. Sleeping okay, but never enough.

Hormones are working. I have all the symptoms of PMS, right on schedule. I am so thrilled this is all it is and it will pass .... NO PERIOD!!!

Checked my incision for bumps and lumps and knots and such ... I think it's okay. Yikes imcrazee, I would be so upset to go through what you have had to ... I don't want anything/anyone even touching my incision. I'm so sorry for you !!

I'm confused, Vicki ... aren't we beginning Week 5 now? I had to go back and look at the calendar. I think the end of Week 4 was yesterday ??? Please someone tell me I can still do math LOL

Oh, and the only thing that helps this burning in my left side is the percocet. I only take one at night to help me sleep, sometimes, if it's bad. Have one left and I'm sure the doctor doesn't want to give me more. If I ask, he'll probably think I'm addicted. Drats.

Joellen, I just asked my dr for something more powerful than the motrin I was overtaking and less than the perocet. He perscriped something that had some codine in it. And that helped just as much as the percocet, but I was able to sleep at night (never slept well on the percocet). I'd at least ask the dr about other pain med options if you are that miserable still. You are probably right about the percocet, but there are other options.

Day 3 back at work, and I wish I took the full 6 weeks. Not because I can't work, or working is causing me problems, its just there is SOOOOOO much.... apparently I was missed. I was having a panic attack of sorts a few weeks ago about whether I'd have a job when I came back...the answer is a resounding yes. Same problem tho exists now as before the surgery. Too much work and not enough me's But I am only doing 8ish hours. Not attending late night con calls. The only real issue is I am so drowsy in the am, it takes me a while to get started. Almost slept through a meeting I was hosting this morning

WELL, I WENT TO DOCTOR YESTERDAY FOR FIRST TIME SINCE MY HYSTO AND ALL WAS FINE AS FOR AS THE SURGICAL SITE. I'M STILL A LITTLE SORE DON'T FEEL IT AS MUCH UNLESS I OVERDO IT OR SNEEZE OR DO SOMETHING THAT REQUIRE ME TO USE MY STOMACH MUSCLES, BUT FOR THE MOST PART I FIGURED I CAN GO BACK TO WORK, SO I ASKED MY DR. ABOUT RETURNING TO WORK AND HE WAS LIKE "WELL I REALLY DO WON'T YOU TO GO BACK THIS SOON, BUT IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU CAN GO BACK THEN I CAN LET YOU GO WITH A RESTRICTION OF NO LIFTING OVER 30lbs". WELL I KNEW THAT WASN'T GONNA WORK BECAUSE I WORK IN A NURSING HOME, SO THAT WAS OUT. EVEN THOUGH I DON'T DO NO DIRECT PATIENT CARE, I STILL HAVE TO LIFT AND MOVE BOXES AROUND WHEN I GET A SHIPMENT IN SO ANOTHER 3 WEEKS IT IS. I WAS ALL HYPED UP ABOUT GETTING RELEASED SO I CAN RETURN TOO WORK, I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO CONTINUE TO PLAY ON THE CP TO KILL TIME.

Joellen,I am so sorry that you are still having the pain I hope that your doc will help.I asked my doc about the possiblity of becoming addicted to the pain meds and she told me as long as I was still in pain that the likely hood of become addicted was very small. And she also reminded me that if I was still in pain and not taking anything to help it I would need longer to heal because you don't heal as well if you are in pain.I hope you feel better soon.

southbeach80 -- How many of us have Halloween anniversary dates? I've noticed several.

My post-op appt is Dec 11. Exercise ... nothing strenuous. Do you have a plan for this? I've been walking in a light way. Did you get any time frame for when you could exercise in a "strenuous" way?

I am an October 31st hystersister. But I am no wear near exercising. Had to have another operation on Wednesday. The pain I was feeling was a hematoma. Had to have in cut open and drained. Doctor said this is highly unusual 4 weeks after surgery. Went today and had drain taken out. Have another hole to heal. Have to keep changing packing untill I go back to see doctor on Tuesday. My 6 week check was supposed to be Thursday 6th but it will be pushed to the following week due to new surgery. I can't wait until I have pain free day.

Glad to see so many October 31st people starting to get back to normal. I was up to walking but am back to square one.

I've been MIA for ten days now . . . been feeling pretty good, getting out and around a lot. (On black Friday we shopped--I forgot myself and got on an elliptical for a couple of rounds--paid for it all day long--it wiped me out BAD). It's back and forth--have energy & do stuff, then am tired and need major rest!

Had my 4-wk post op appt and I'm recovering well. Night sweats are an issue and I am not sleeping all that well, so HRT was prescribed. I got the patch. Doc showed me pictures of my ovaries & tubes--they were twisted, mangled and choking off my ureter from my kidney to my bladder. She said it was an awful sight. Who knew? All checked out benign, so, thankfully it's all for the good now.

I've been lucky with the pain, not having much of it, other than the backaches like so many of you are experiencing, too. I guess we're using those muscles rather than our abs.

Walked a mile on the treadmill today--felt energetic and really good about it! It took 20 minutes! That's okay--it was great to move. Sounds like some of you are trying the walking thing, too! Good luck with that! Careful with those dogs, now, ya hear?!

Doc was going to have me out of work until after Christmas, but I'm in retail and it's the craziest time of the year--so I go back 3 weeks from today. Oh boy! But 8-hour shifts only. Wheww heww!

Take care everyone, and hang in there when it's tough. Things will start looking up soon!

October 31 Hystersister too...

I'm an Oct 31 Hystersister too ...TAH/BSO

I am doing remarkably well overall. My scar is healing well, the swelling is down quite a bit (it gets a bit worse by evening). I'm still a bit tender and the muscles near my navel are still a bit sore. I am also having some bladder pain (no burning, it feels like cramps - not like an infection). I have complete numbness in much of the 2 inch band above the scar - I'm hoping to get feeling back in this area with time. I've had no issues with unbalanced hormones (started taking HRT two weeks ago) no hotflashes, mood swings or such. Thank goodness!

But I am experiencing some insomnia from time to time. Also, due to the ongoing pain in my bladder, I am still taking an occasional pain pill at night.

What can cause this insomnia? Is it a product of taking naps or is it normal after this procedure?
