Hair Loss

I have a question for everyone. THis has probably been asked before but I am going to ask again. I am losing two to three times more hair since I had my hysterectomy on September 13, 2007. Is this normal? I am almost 7 weeks post op and am starting to get concerned. I have lots of hair so it is not a big deal to lose some, but am wondering how long it will last. THanks ahead of time for any input. Lisa

Hair Loss

hair loss after a major surgery is not uncommon -- your whole body gets a shock to the system.
Mine seems more brittle than before-- but they also started my on thyroid right before surgery -- but now that this part of my problems are taken care of -- maybe they will find out that the thyroid was never out of whack.

if it continues -- you might check with your hairdresser or your doctor

Hair Loss

I had heard that hair loss is not at all uncommon following surgery. And was told also that my hair would be dryer- and more brittle- as well.

Bought shampoo to help replenish some moisture to my hair (what a switch! I've always had to fight oily hair before.) Also some conditioner to calm down the "dry frizzies" a little.

It will be interesting to see what my hair does when all of this is behind me.... wonder what kind of shampoo / conditioner will become "the norm"???

My best to all of you recovering sisters.... thoughts and prayers for you each day.

Take care.....

Dinkum
