Numbness

I'm 9 weeks post op from total abdominal hysterectomy/BSO. I have absolutely no feeling from the length of my incision up to my navel. Has something been botched or is this a temporary thing? Is sure is a weird sensation. Anyone else out there experienced this?

Numbness

Hi maxicat!

The feeling you describe is very common. The area around my incisional scar was numb for a year...but it eventually returned to normal. Here is an article in the Post-Op Articles archive you may find helpful:

Tummy Feeling Weird

I hope you continue to have a good recovery!

Carmen,
Thanks for the link. I've felt that way, too.

Cheers!

Numbness

I am a year and a month post op and I still have a numb area near my incision. It drives me crazy at times.

Best wishes in your recovery!

Numbness

My incision is horizontal but I have a numbness around my belly button and down to the incision. It's been five weeks today. I imagine it will heal in time, it seems worse when I'm tired (or at least I think it is).
But if that's the worse thing I feel at this point then I think I'm doing ok :-)
I am over tired cuz I've been staying up too late watching movies and baseball. I have the rest of the week to rest and then back to work full time on Monday. Yippee!
Take care - Hugs - M

Yep very common

You are healing. That numbness is very normal. It went away for me after about 3 months or so, maybe more.
