Hole in ureter ~ anyone else?

Two weeks post op and I was feeling great until I felt it. One of the most severe pains of my life. I went to the emergency room, ran tests, and the findings were that there was a hole in the tube that carries the urine from my kidneys to my bladder and urine was leaking into my abdomen. I went in for emergency surgery to put in a stint and now I am going thru a second recovery with a urine bag strapped to my leg. The doctors as well as myself are hoping that the hole will heal itself with the support of the stint.

Has this happened to anyone? Please let me know. I need answers. I want to know how this happened. My OB is not giving me any clear answers. HELP!

How painful that sounds. I have no idea how that happened, but keep asking questions. I'd want answers as well.

Hope you feel better soon and the bag is removed.

My surgeon was really upfront with all that could "go wrong" as I insisted on hearing ALL the possible scenarios.... prior to surgery. What you're experiencing is a consequence of the procedure, unfortunately. I'm so sorry this has happened... if your surgeon isn't a moron... there must have been an "issue" that caused this....

It should readily heal with the stint in place. It is just so frustrating to have one more "issue" when all we want is to be done with it ALL!!!

Hugs, sweetie... but stay in touch with your surgeon and staff.... be sure to let him/them know if anything happens... or if you experience any additional symptoms... fever, swelling, dizziness, etc....
