Post-op appt 4 weeks away??

Hi all,
I had TAH/BSO on 10/24 and was released 2 days later, felt kinda early because surgery was done 150miles away. At this moment I'm feeling good (this depends on time of day/pain meds taken etc.) but I'm concerned that my doc doesn't want to see me for another month. I have disolveable stitches inside and surgi strips holding me together. I guess I'm just concerned about not being checked up on to make sure everything is ok and I'm getting really worried about running out of pain meds as I was only given a weeks worth so I haven't been taking them as often as I probably should. Because my doc is out of state I'm not even sure if they can be refilled by phone if he were to agree.

Am I freaking out about nothing? Would you guys call about these concerns? I feel like crap asking for more pain meds again (but I feel crappy not using them too). Any suggestions/feedback?

I would call and see. Is there another dr in your area to see for a refill if the surgeon can't/won't do it over the phone? If you can see one they can look at the stitches too. You're not freaking out about nothing I was nervous too when I was told to see my surgeon in 6 weeks

At the hospital I was told that being in pain slows the healing process since I wouldn't want to get up and walk around as much as I needed too. . .so I was told to take them if I needed them.

Post-op appt 4 weeks away??

Each doctor is different. When my doc came by in the hospital she said she would see me in 6 weeks. I actually have an appointment in 3 weeks because my work will only give me 3 weeks convalescence leave at a time (I'm in the miliatary). At my 3 week check up, she'll either say I need more time off or return me to duty with restrictions.

If you have questions/concerns, definitely call you doctor. Mine did say the 6 week check up was if everything was going well at home. She said if I was having problems, pain, etc, then to call and they would get me in prior to that.

Definitely call about the pain medicine before you run out so you have a plan before you need them.

Be sure to rest.

Thanks Muffy and Catters. I'm going to call my doc and just let him know I'm having some anxiety about being so far away. Later in the week I'll get my stitches checked and a refill from my gp who is very understanding about my cramps. It will have to wait till tomorrow at the earliest since our local high school football team is away at playoffs and two of the three docs have sons playing. I feel much better now knowing this is a normal post op appt time!
