Doctor Cleared for Sex, but extrememly painful
I am 7 weeks post op from my complete hyserectomy. My husband and I tried sex for the first time last night. The doctor had just cleared me. He said everything was fiine and I was good to go. The problem is the sex was extremely painful. Almost as though I have some kind of sensitive raw place inside. I did have bleeding as well. My husband and I took it slow and he was very gentle, but it was so painful and today I am still in a lot of pain inside. Now I am really scared. Is this normal? will this last forever? was I healed properly? Should I call my doctor?

I'd call my doctor. I wonder if you still had stitches that are healing. My DH is out of town, I haven't tried out the new goods yet.
I'll have to admit I'm a little nervous.
Let your doctor know you took it slow and how painful it was and that you have some bleeding now.

Doctor Cleared for Sex, but extrememly painful
I am 2 months post-op. I got the go ahead and my Dh and I tried for the first time for our anniversary last week. I was extremely nervous too. It was very uncomfortably with some pain. But there was no bleeding. We waited a few days, then tried again, but still a bit of pain and discomfort. I am beginning to think this is the way it's gonna be for a while. I think it's like starting all over again - eventually it will be enjoyable again. (I hope.) I also think it's as much mental as it is physical - maybe more.
But I think you should give the dr. a call too and let him/her know about the bleeding. You've come too far, and your body had been through a lot, to dismiss any bleeding or issues now.
Take care of yourself. Healing takes time - something we all have to remember (as hard as it is!)

Granulation tissue can also cause this. That was an issue with me after my surgery. Silver nitrate treatments take care of that.

Doctor Cleared for Sex, but extrememly painful
I have the same problem. I don't have bleeding though. I went to my doctor he examined me and said that I have a lot of scar tissue. He gave me a set of 4 dialators to use 3x a day until I can use the biggest one. It hurts and seems kinda weird. I hope it works...I don't look forward to sex because of the pain. Has anyone ever done this?

Doctor Cleared for Sex, but extrememly painful
My husband and I had sex for the first time this past weekend 6-1/2 weeks after my TAH. I had slight pain at first, but then all was well. We had sex again this week and it was great...no pain! I am having some light bleeding, but my doctor warned me that I would.
You should contact your doctor just to be sure all is well.

Doctor Cleared for Sex, but extrememly painful
Thanks for the responses. I am worried about the scar tissue. One of things the surgery did was to remove massive scar tissue. I pray I do not have a lot more. I have tried to do everything the doctor said... no lifting, no pulling, pushing etc. I am angry that the nurses the day after my surgery took the catheter out and when I could not use the rest room, kept forcing me to drink and made me strain and strain and then of course recathed me and then I went through the same thing the next day until I strained and forced urine out. They sent me home and I spent a week having to FORCE urine out before it seemed to work on its on. I wonder if the straining caused scar tissue. I have left a message for my doctor. He did not tell me anything about pain etc. He is supposed to be one of the best. He invented or helped invent the Robotic surgery for this, although I was unable to have that kind. Thank you all for your help and support. I wish I had found this site sooner. I have felt so alone, no children and having to have this done at 38. anyway thanks!
