Can't go???

Anyone have trouble with the big B/M? I've been passing a lot of gas since the surgery and have been eating but nothing yet--ARGH!! Been walking, drinking a lot, etc., etc.

Started a stool softener yesterday and still nothing! Thinking of heading toward the suppository method to get things rolling.

Does anyone have any other simple remedies that have helped them?

Thanks ladies!

Can't go???

Hang in there. I had to take several doses of stool softener and Miralax to get things going. Your intestines were moved about and "shocked" a little bit. Keep taking your stool softener, add Milk of Magnesia if you want, and drink lots of water. Walking, too, helps wake things back up.

Everything will be fine real soon. Promise!

stool softners do nothing for me. go out and get some milk of magnesia to soften things up. you shouldnt have any cramping and it usually helps overnight. good luck

Can't go???

The hospital would not release me until I had a b/m but maybe its different in Canada. Anyway, I always found that a beer works wonders..ok I may use that method for more then that ailment but you could give it a shot.

Can't go???

It was 4 days after being home beforeI had a BM. Man...I was hurting. I tried everythng and resorted to an enema. Within 3 minutes I was in the bathroom and boy (don't want to scare ya) but it hurt yet felt sooooo good. Of course I called the Dr. first and he said give it a try. After that I made sure to eat 2 green apples a day,one in the morn. and one in the eve. then I had a bm everyday after that. It was painful for about a week going, so hang in there. I guess an apple a day REALLY does keep the dr. away. lol

Can't go???

Thanks ladies! I really wasn't in the hospital long enough to wait for the wonderful b/m to come and visit so they let me go.

I'm running to go drink some milk of magnesia now....

Can't go???

Fiber One Cereal, A friend high recommended, said it was better than drugstores items. I ate a cup today and my stomach is so settled (knock on wood). I also used a gylcerin suppository (its not a laxative) and that looses up the first stool to come out.

Can't go???

Tropicana golden grapefruit juice did it for me. Day 3 post op, hurt like hell the first time but it got things moving. I've been going daily ever since with the help of 2 weetabix also for breakfast.
Best wishes X
