Coming Home

Coming home today was a bit more than I could handle comfortably. Just the excitement of being home again, doing things I normally do when I'm here. I overdid it. I hurt alot right now. Can't take any more pain meds for 2 more hours. Just sitting in my recliner resting now.

My dog, bless her heart. She was so excited to see me and I totally blew it. I had my son keep her in a different room until I was settled and then let her out. She went nuts. I didn't think she would jump on me if I was sitting down and did I have my tummy pillow ??? Noooooo Very bad of me. First of all, she couldn't tell that there was anything wrong with me, she just thought I was finally home so she jumped on me. Oh dear lord, excruciating. I quickly grabbed my pillow. All is well now but I think I should have let her see me walk in so she could have seen immediately that I wasn't myself. I think she would have acted better.

Now she sits on the couch next to my recliner and rests her head on the arm so I can reach her to pet her. She's very sweet to me, the best medicine

I hurt alot and my incision is swelling. Should I put ice on it?

Welcome home. Ice would be good for the swelling and pain at your incision site. Take care and try not to overdo it Remember to pamper the Princess

Poor Dear! I'm sorry to hear about your first day back. I know your puppy was just so excited to see you. Yes, put some ice (or wrap a bag of frozen peas in a thin towel and use that) on it and see if you can take any Motrin. My doc gave me written instructions and said I could take Motrin along with my pain med.

It's easy to do too much when you are feeling good. You just got home so make sure all you are doing is sleeping, walking, watching tv, and playing on the computer. Anything else is too much right now.

Perfect advise, thank you! I definitely overdid it. I just took another round of percocets, about 15 minutes ago. I'm feeling fine now .... but that doesn't mean I can do anything. That's hard, when I'm feeling okay, I want to get up and do this and do that. I'm just going to sit here. Good advice, Muffy

Glad to hear you're home and on the road to recovery. Be careful not to overdo it. It's easy to do. I didn't even realize I was doing too much, but I did and ended up ordered to 2 days bedrest one week postop.

Glad the painkillers are helping you.
