new here 4 wks post op, bladder pain?
Hi ladies, I'm new to the board and am 4 weeks post op. I don't know all the abbreviations I see so I'll have to spell it out for myself! I had my uterus and cervix removed on Oct. 3rd due to placenta and bleeding issues in pregnancy and delivery - I knew it might be possible due to suspected placenta increta but was still saddened that it was actually necessary.
Anyway, I have stopped the spotting finally but still have a very painful bladder off and on....seems like every other day. My bladder was one of the most painful parts right out of surgery (that and feeling like I had been repeatedly kicked in the ribs and could hardly breathe). One of my nurses was so kind to tell me "don't fixate on your bladder" when I was in tears due to the pain of not being able to "go" and having an incredibly full bladder after they removed my cath. I still have pain here at home, sometimes very intense I don't want to use the bathroom at all. Is this a common side effect to this surgery? I wonder and will be sure to ask my doc on my next visit in 4 weeks (I forgot to ask him yesterday!)
I was also noting other posts about loose bowels after surgery and have to join those with that issue as well. I had to laugh when the doctor that handled my blood transfusions told me I might become constipated due to the iron I have to take 3 x's a day.....I almost wish I had that problem!!! So far the extra iron isn't doing a thing in that respect!

What!!!Don't fixate on your bladder? I had the same response from a nurse when I was in the hospital. I had severe trauma to the bladder ( adhesions, uterus , bladder"glued" together.) I could not go and and had so much pain the catheter was put back in while I was in the hospital. I am 16 weeks post-op and still have some occasional pain or sensation when I have to pee. Some discomfort / pain is normal from what I have read but call your doctor. Rule out UTI or anything else! Hope you are feeling better.
