Hypertension after Menopause
I had TAH last April 2006. However, beginning April of this year, I have been experiencing panic attacks and anxiety....Just every little thing sets these trembling attacks. I am on a .5 Estradiol HRT. I tried Premarin and Estratest and both gave me really bad side effects...Also, I became hypertensive during these last 7 months...Did any of you experience these?????My PCP prescribed .5 mg Xanax---it works but I don't want to get addicted to it. She changed it to Ativan (1mg) and I just took half of it but made me depressed.....
I am currently doing yoga 2x a week and walking 30 minutes at least 2x a week but I still feel these heart palpipations, and trembles...My doc even put me on high blood meds....Help!

Hypertension after Menopause
dear gatlandi...it seems that the onset of your panic attacks coincided with the anniversary of your hysterectomy...just an observation...may or may not be related. i'm so sorry i can't help you...i'm 6 yrs. post menopause, no h.r.t., and i haven't experienced panic attacks per se, but i did have the trembling you described for a couple of months after my surgery. i think i was just worried about my health, the future, going out alone, driving, etc. eventually i got over it.
if your dr. can't figure out a medical reason for your symptoms, then maybe you need some counselling to help you. the stress of these attacks is possibly contributing to your hypertension...i'm not a medical professional...so please go back to your dr. for further assessment. i thinks it's great you're doing yoga (i love it too) and the walking. hypertension can also be helped by diet, so maybe look into that as well. best wishes to you.
