How much does a uterus weigh?

Mine was 4kilos (just over 8 pounds). If you are not squeemish, I am putting links to photos below. My amazing doc just laughed when I asked her to take them and had them waiting in my email box when I got home. She said she was glad I had asked because it was the largest she had ever dealt with and would be using the pics in her lectures.

Alien 1
Alien 2
Alien 3

How much does a uterus weigh?

Justfenix, wow oh good grief! Tell please,YOU DO FEEL BETTER! Right!?!
They were supposed to take pics for me too. Said they would e-mail them to me. that is the only snag I had with the castle visit. That was 6 weeks ago, guess they forgot about me again. I even went in person at my last dr. visit since castle was right accross the street!

How much does a uterus weigh?

I feel so much better it's just silly. Everyone kept saying that I wouldn't realize just how run down and such I was feeling until after I had the surgery and they were right. It's only been two and half weeks and even now with that small amount of recovery time I feel like an actual functioning human being again. I can't wait to see how I feel a couple months from now.

How much does a uterus weigh?

JustFenix, that is amazing. Absolutely amazing. Do you know what it weighed?. Now I wish more than ever that I had asked my doctor to take photos of mine. I go back for my post op check up next week (5/12) I hope that she thought to take a pic of mine. Especially as how I carried both my sons so different to everybody else. They both layed across my stomach and just did not seem comfortable in the so called normal position. You would have to feel better honey after having that removed. Well done!!!

How much does a uterus weigh?

Ginny - the exact weight was 4.1 kilos or 9 pounds according to the conversion table I found. I don't think most doc take pictures unless asked or unless they know it is going to unusual (mine knew this one would be a big but the pics were because I asked), but you should be able to get a copy of your pathology report so you can at least know size and weight. Somewhere I even have a CD of the CT scan of "The Alien".

How much does a uterus weigh?

Goosey - I had a SAH (kept cervix and ovaries) with a 9" long vertical incision (belly button marks the center). Doc said they tried to keep the incision below the belly button but the bugger was just too big and she couldn't evenget her hands around it at that size. It measured 25x16x14cm (10" x 6" x 5.5") - huge under the best of circumstances but when you consider that I am only 5' tall to begin with, it reached almost to my sternum.

I am actually planning on going back to work next week. I don't know if that's thanks to an amazing doc or a quick healing body but I am giving them both credit. After feeling as though my life got derailed for most of this past year while I waited to find out what this was and then what was going to be done about it and the like.... I am so ready to get this train back on track again.

How much does a uterus weigh?

Wow, what a thread. Eight pound uterus? I am in awe. Mine was 199 grams, bigger than normal and big fibroids, but nothing like I have seen this thread. After the smoke has cleared at three months, I weigh 4 lbs less, have a little smaller waist, still have swelly belly but lost a size in boobs. Not cup size, but around. What is with that? I was hoping I would lose off my hips. Not a chance.I asked my doc in pre op, so how about a little tummy tuck while you are in there? He said everone asks that!
