Waiting for the storm!

Hi Ladies,

I am two weeks post-op and one week without HRT. I wore the patch for a week but took it off because my head hurt all the time (I have had migraines for a long long time). I keep waiting on menopausal symptoms to hit but nothing is going on - I feel fine. My face got a little warm a couple of days ago but that was it.

I know everyone is different, but I'd like to know other people's experiences with no HRT and how soon symptoms started showing up. Thanks!

My TAH/BSO was on 10/16 so I'm now almost 3 weeks post op. Have no HRT due to endometriosis.

The first week was pretty "normal" or as normal as one can be when recovering from major surgery....

But early in my second week the hot flashes hit with a vengance- especially at night. (Chilly and under covers one minute... burning up and kicking covers off the next!)

As for emotional ups and downs.... I had one major meltdown at the beginning of my second week post op.... Felt awful- depressed - and crying.

I'm kinda like you.... wondering what's next. But since everyone is different, we can only get an idea of what might happen from other's experiences... then wait and see what actually comes to pass in our own lives.

I think it depends on your age and other factors. I was 45 at the time of my surgery and only had mild hot flushes especially at night. I still have them now and then 6 months later.

I am emotionally better. Feeling down after surgery could be the surgery.
