pity party, table for one

i am just over three weeks out from TAH and after a couple of really good days i just had the worst day! i felt like my "cervix" (that i don't have) was going to fall out, and i had tummy pains again all day. i laid around all day because being up was too uncomfortable.

tonight i had a good cry from feeling helpless, hopeless, old, lonely, and like i'm looking down a very long road to a full recovery.

i had thyroid surgery last december and that took a while to bounce back from. i finally got myself up to speed with strength, stamina and exercise. then i had to have this hysterectomy. this is so much worse than the thyroidectomy!

so, tonight i'm having a pity party. i'm going to take a percoset, eat some chocolate, watch some tv, and hope that tomorrow is a better day.

any other suggestions warmly welcomed.

I'm a firm believer that we all need a pity party now and then. Ups and downs are a completely normal part of recovery.

Hang in there, things are bound to get better. In the meantime, have some more !!!

Hey Goosey!

I'm so sorry you're feeling unwell. I would only add a cup of warm tea to help soothe you. I have a couple of really good days and then I have to lie down for most of the next day. I'm still surprised at how fatigue will just smack me right over the head with no warning. I'd give you a big hug if I could; this would have to do.

Hang in there!

I had my TAH/BSO just 4 days after you and my day has been just about like yours. I've not had a thyroidectomy but do have hypothyroidism which has wreaked havoc on my body since day 1. Right now my husband and little boy are sleeping soundly, I am hurting and did just what you are doing. I took a percoset, ate some ice cream, and am curling up with a good book until I think that I can fall asleep. (Thought I'd check in with the sisters here first, though. I get such encouragement here.) I'll pray for you right now that tomorrow is a better day. God bless you!

Can we have more chairs at this pity party table? I would love to join you, I would commiserate with you to no end, but I'm having my own pity party tonight too. I'm only 4 days out from a TAH and having a very bad day. If I have to climb my stairs one more time to visit my bathroom for NO RELIEF, I'm going to lose it!

Sorry to hear you're having a bad day too. I can't give you any advice, I'm not as far as you. But I certainly know how you feel.

I am 12 wks out from surgery.
Weeks 3 and 4 were the worst for me because I was driving and
" functioning" but I still had soooo much discomfort, insomnia and a general blah feeling.
I can say that it does go away and I now feel like a new person. Except for the ongoing brain fog. I am still a little forgetful.

As each week passes, you'll have more good days than bad. This whole recovery thing requires patience -- something I've never been blessed with. It's hard, but you'll make it and soon you'll be the ones encouraging the newly post-op sisters.

Many s to each of you!!

I'll pull up a chair too...but I want a recliner :-)
I'm six weeks out (TAH) and whining cuz I have to go to work tomorrow. I've been feeling pretty good until the end of the day when it all hits me pretty hard.
I remember feeling the same way you all are feeling at 3/4wks. It's when I hit my brick wall and just cried for two hours straight.
It gets better....I promise!
Hugs Ladies and instead of tea - have a stiff drink at that pity party !!!!

I am almost 3 weeks out from surg. I too feel like I need to be at that PITY PARTY....been havin' one here! I feel like I should be better than I am ; then I come here and realize that I'm not alone. Thanks to all who are posting progress....although at times it feel like a landslide rather than progress. I feel guilty for NOT doing things; then I feel horrible when I do. I have gone back to work already, but my job is extremely easy on the body. I just sit at my desk and work. No pulling, lifting, yet! I have had some great days, only to follow days when I feel like standing is just not going to happen. I have to take care of my kids ~ although they've been good to me. Yesterday I started having some sharp pains in my sides. Ladies, your body will tell you when you've done too much......and it hurts like heck! So, I wish I would have listened to my head instead of waiting for my body to say STOP! I'm going to try to take it easy today. Wish me luck!
Have a great day.....
