So worried about heading back to work!

I'm a little worried as well. I had an LAVH on 10/25 and I'm supposed to go back to work 11/19. The gyn told my military doc 6 weeks and his response was "how come 6, she should only need 2 weeks." Finally signed off on 3 weeks. I know my gyn won't recommend me going back before I'm ready. I know if she (gyn) and I agree I'm ready at 3 weeks, she'll still put me on restricted duty (1/2 days and such) until I hit the 6 week mark. Just don't want to undo any of the gyn's handywork. My job isn't labor intensive so that's a plus. I know the LAVH is less invasive than the TAH so maybe I will feel like going to work at 3 weeks.

So worried about heading back to work!

I'm just afraid that if I go back to work before I know I can perform the way I used too and get the pay they pay me for it, it will make me feel bad. Also Iknoew I will probably be in the break room more than outon the floor working. I truly dont think I will be able to go back to work at 6 weeks. Hopefully the dr. will fill the same way. i will have to let my job know tomorrow if I am returning on the 20th. they figure their schedule 2 weeks out, and that is the week of Thanksgiving, when I will be needed the most. It will be very hectic at that time (retail).

So worried about heading back to work!

My Superintendent from work is stopping by on her lunch today. I'm sure it's a go , nogo visit to see how I am doing. I'm still struggling and I know there is no way that I can go back to work. I started making list of everything that has been happening to me so that when I go back to the gyno on Thursday she'll see what is going on with me on a daily basis. I only started the list from a couple of days prior to my hospital re-admission last Wednesday but I think it'll give her a good indication of my symptoms and my activity level and the resulting symptoms.

But you know what? I don't feel guilty. They can get along just fine without me. I'm more important to my family and friends than I am to them. It's one time I'm thinking about myself and not anybody else. I'm hoping for about another two weeks off. And I'm not saying that to scam the system. I'm more worried about injuring myself as I am clearly not at the same recovery level that some women are at.

Not a whiner, just worried. Talk to the doctor just like you did hear. He/she does not know what you actually do at work until you tell him/her. I hope you get some extra time.

I'm with you guys!

Can't see myself going back to work and walking like a turtle or being afraid of movements I have to do or can't do. My recovery is too important, I can only do this once. I was glad when my doctor gave me a note for 2 months off and she will re-evaluate on my post op appt after 6 weeks.

So worried about heading back to work!

I remember begging my dr. to get me in for my surgery as soon as possible so I could go back before Thanksgiving (retail), because I really care about my empoyees, and I love my job. Besides last year on Black Friday 9day after Thanksgiving) it was soooo fun. Thats why I wanted to go back. But I really didn't know what this surgery was all about and how long recovery would take. I'm hoping now to get another 2 weeks off today. Even though I really want to go back, my recovery is more important I and I want to be honest withmy bosses and not just be able to walk around and not do my job to the fullest. Plus..with Christmas coming I will be just as needed then.

So worried about heading back to work!

Well here's some hope for you ladies who are nervous talking to your bosses about returning to work. My boss asked if she could stop by at lunch. She just called me. She said she had a cold and was worried that I would catch it. Anyway, I just talked to her about everything that was happening. I was totally honest and a little graphic which gave her a bit of a reference on how difficult this recovery has been. She said that she can't see the doctor clearing me for work and just asked that I get another note to extend my leave for a couple of weeks. She said that I could also work half days when I am able to return to work as it may be difficult to get back into the swing of things.

That was sure a load off my mind. Now I just have to ensure that my doctor realizes the issues I've been having so that I get a note for another couple of weeks off work.
