Possible Bladder Issue? Bladder Dropped?

My gyn got the results of the cystogram and IVP today. Apparently I know nothing more today than I did before the test. My gyn said "these tests are 90% to 95% accurate and came back as normal." If I am "normal" then why do I have bladder leakage after the hysterectomy!?! Why do I feel like my bladder is putting EXTREME pressure against the vagina!?! The gyn is referring me to a urologist - waiting to find out when that appointment will be scheduled.

Is it possible that the tests can miss a small fistula? I say small fistula because I have a "steady slow drip". I hope the urologist can find out where the leak is and figure out how to fix it.

VetTech - the catheter felt rather big. I hate, hate catheters too. Boy was I glad when that was removed! I just hope I do not get another UTI.

The urologist will be able to tell what's going on exactly. When my urologist checked me it was just like getting a pap smear so it wasn't all that bad (any rate for me).

I think the urologist will get to the bottom of it, so to speak.

Possible Bladder Issue? Bladder Dropped?

HI Ledge I had my TAH 5 weeks ago and since the beginning the sensation I have when I pee is very different than before. At first I thought it was because I had the catheter for 8 days and maybe it had damaged something in my bladder or maybe a UTI. But when time passed and it continued the same I asked my OBGYN and he told me that it was normal to feel discomfort, maybe a little pain because the uterus and the bladder are one against the other, so when the uterus is taken away the bladder changes its position and the body has to get used to that position. The body has "memory" so it remembers how it was before and takes about six months to "learn" this new position.
Hope this helps you, but if it is so unvearable better go to the urologist.

ledge - You definitely need a second opinion. And if you don't get help there - then a third opinion.

I hope that the urologist is helpful. But if you haven't already made the appt - you might want to think about a urogynocologist (sp?), if there are any in your area. The second opinion I ended up with (to do my hyst & fix prolapsed blader) was both a Urologist and a GYN who specialized in pelvic floor reconstruction. However, I had to travel a bit to get to her. I really liked the fact that she had "specialized" in both areas, and she was very thorough.

Don't let any Dr. tell you that things are "normal" when your body is telling you differently. You may need more tests to find it, but obviously there is something there. Make sure they keep looking! Hopefully they find out what it is soon!

Keep us posted and Good Luck!

Possible Bladder Issue? Bladder Dropped?

Hi gals..Im about 7 weeks post op too...had TAH on sept 21. I had a bladder infection...got an antibiotic but felt it never really went away. About a week and a half ago I got bronchitis and am coughing like CRAZY. That has been uncomfortable but nothing like I just started feeling yesterday. Terrible rectal, pelvic and vaginal pressure and pain. I dont know if its from all the coughing and things can "drop" or if its from the heavy duty drugs for the bronchitis taking a toll on my system, or the intercourse we had. No pain or anything with the intercourse so I cant imagine that is it. I remember having the rectal and pelvic pain right after surgery but pretty good for the past 4 weeks and now this just popped up at 7 weeks post op. I dont have a family Dr and my gynecologist is away for 4 weeks. Any suggestions on what could be going on? My pressure/pain is all the time not just when having to go to the bathroom. THANKS gals!!!!

Possible Bladder Issue? Bladder Dropped?

well, girlz, i posted before about how i'd reached for a baking dish, and got a sore/achey/heavy bladder thing.......and have rested, and it improves, but the slightest thing sets it back again. like the other day i bent & tucked the blankets in under the mattress??? geez, anything more than breathing seems to be "too much" ??? and, so it hurts at the end of peeing again, like it did in the early weeks. groan. so, assume what amoamaria says, that for some it can take months??? groan.....more waiting ! ! and i sooo need to get out and get my garden weeded ! ! its getting way out of control ! ! oh well, guess we have to keep up with the hoping......gee.

ps ajj, your prob. sounds more serious, and i think you'll be needing to go see someone? does your doc have a temp. to take over whilst away? someone who will have your records etc? good luck with it girl, and good luck to everyone else too ! !
