I had horrible acid reflux for 2 weeks after my surgery. I took the 14 day OTC prilosec and it worked great. The prilosec kicked in after two days of taking it and I took it the whole 14 days. After the 14 days it never has come back. I think you said you tried that though. Did you take it for the whole 14 days.

I hope it helps. It worked wonders for me. The pharmacist at Walmart is who recommended it to me. Be sure to take it for the entire 14 days. It might not work until you've taken in for 2 or 3 days, but stick with it. At first I got discouraged and thought it wasn't going to work but I kept taking it and after a couple days it was gone. Take it every morning before you eat. I know how miserable acid reflux is. Good luck!

anybody else getting really bad heartburn?

I started Prelosec 3 days before surgery ( 23rd of October ) because I have had problems with heartburn for a long time. I am still taking it and I am planning to take it for 28 days as I don't want to cope with this problem also.I told my doctor about my heartburn and the anaesthisiologist gave me something extra to take before surgery.

anybody else getting really bad heartburn?

Hi! It's been over three weeks since my tvh and that part of me is healing well. I have been having problems with persistant coughing and chest pains. Feels like something is caught. I went to the doctor and he thought my reflux has been acting up. Not sure if cough is related or part of a virus my husband had. I have been taking zantac for the last few days. Still coughing and feeling like something is stuck. I am now wondering if the docusate is part of the problem or if surgery sometimes causes flair ups with reflux. I have never been this uncomfortable for this long with reflux. I am suppose to go back to work on Monday and feel ready healing wise but just have not been able to rest well or build up my endurance.
