3 Weeks Post-Op Tomorrow and Still on Pain Meds

I am going to be 3 weeks on monday and I am still taking my pain meds.I asked my doc about when i should stop and she said that if I was still having pain that i should take them, and that there was no reason not to.I have been able to cut back on them but I still need them from late afternoon on.I hope this pain lets up soon.

You are so great to do this for your daughter. So great. And now she'll be able to pass it along to her daughter and hopefully, this subject can come out in the open. Now I understand what my grandma's old friends were referring to when they said that "Mabel has dropsy". hahahaa

I have been doing great without them. I have been having a few twinges but nothing major. I took everything they gave me in the hospital. I wanted to make sure that I was o.k. before I left.

You should count yourself VERY fortunate that you didn't need anything after the recovery room. I have some friends that weren't as fortunate, hence, why I was continually told to stay on the meds as long as possible.

Thanks for sharing!

3 Weeks Post-Op Tomorrow and Still on Pain Meds

It will be the start of week 4 tomorrow and I just got lortab and ib 800 refilled today. I started off in bad pain, it took forever for me to get out of recovery because of the pain (I am getting my records now to see if i can get some answers), when I did get to my room I would get iv pain meds that they could give every 3 hours. It would take half an hour to work and then completely wore off at the 2nd hour. I have constant cramping and sharp stabbing pains most of the day. Just wanted to say that if you hurt take the meds!!

My surgical pain was off the charts for about a week. Now, I am handling everything so much better now. I think the best thing is to take care of yourself first and foremost. Don't suffer in silence anymore is my motto. I stopped taking the Percocett last week, and am just taking Naproxen. It seems to be working just fine.

I just have no energy, and could nap at the drop of a hat. But when it comes to going to bed to sleep, forget it. I cannot go to sleep. I watch the clock go around. Does anyone else have this?

Blessings all around.

You betcha!!! The fact that I am up reading your post is proof enough I seem to alternate nights. One night I can sleep for a good 7-8 hours (with breaks in between), the next night, I don't get to sleep until 4:30-5:00 am.

My Dr. told me that it goes with the whole surgery thing and wanted to know if I wanted something to sleep. I declined it because I didn't want to become dependent on it.

I try to get up at the same time each day to try to combat this but it doesn't help. I still am very tired, but can't sleep! (Sigh)

I'm going to try again to get in the bed and get some sleep, I hope you do also!
