3 months post...still have pain - anyone else?

Three months out (almost exactly) and still having pain, too. It feels like an internal rug burn across most of my pelvic area. I'm managing about half an hour 5 days a week on the total gym, but walking is still limited to a mile 3-4 days a week.

In any event, I'm also having severe mood swings, crying and hot flashes with a sudden onset a couple weeks ago. I really was "fine" til then. I sleep in 20 minute increments, even with ambien.

I was almost post-menopausal at the time the girls were yanked, so I am very confused, that it could be this bad 3 months post-op ? No period for 2 years, mild hot flashes and a little moodyness over that time and I thought I was pretty much 'through' menopause.

Now I am like Evil Crying Woman from the Planet Mood Swing and her little dog, Hot Flash from the Planet Night Sweat rolled into one. (see, I'm not even funny any more.)

I am trying to take over the counter herbals (which are contra-indicated with some of the rest of my meds, so I've been VERY careful... many of the herbals do NOT mix with statins).

After 3 weeks, they haven't done squat. (Well, if they have, I'd hate to see what I'd be like without them.... Whoda thunk you could cry for 5 straight days without dehydrating ?)

In the continuance of luck, my Gyn has broken her foot and can't see me for 3 more weeks and my primary care has decided she'd rather run a weight loss clinic and my health insurance no longer covers her treatment.

Anyone got magic ? I feel a little silly sitting in my office (I'm an academic librarian) with a hot pink fan. Though it is a lovely fan. (That is the one thing I learned real quick with these new and improved hot flashes; the faster I can get cool, the less long they last)

thanks !!!

Juju

I am 11 weeks post-up from a TAH/BSO. I still have a pulling, itchy, scratchy like pain at the incision site and trying to find button pants is a nightmare. I guess I'll have to go with elastic this winter. My stomach still pooches some days as if right after surgery. I'm dumbfounded!. I'm on estradiol 2mg per day, but still having some pretty severe symptoms, so I'm going to talk to my GYN.

Best of luck to you!

Hi, I am just a couple of days from my four month mark. Was at Docs last Thursday for yet another check up. Had several good weeks then pain and swelling again so I asked him about it. He told me that it takes a good nine months to heal. He also mentioned that when the incision on the outside turns white that is when the insides are completely healed....mine is still beet red! Long road ahead, Take care

Hello cherryblossom67! We sound like we are around the same point, i had mine Aug 28th/07. I just wanted to clarify, your doc expects you to still have some pain? Were you doing more activity, is that why you are having troubles, now? I am glad you said the info about the incision, makes sense and is a good way to judge! I am feeling alright, but last two weeks have had alot of cramp type pain with gas, that is paralyzing, then it goes. Abd feels tender lately , so i am slacking off a bit and making no fast moves. I hope you are doing ok, thanks for the info !

Hey Sophe! Sounds like you are having a tough time eh? I had mine Aug 28th so i am just at 3 month mark. Too bad you can't get into see a doc soon, sounds like you need some help balancing out some wild hormones there! Its hard on us when we think we are doing well and recovering, almost done at it, and then we are struck back a few steps! I guess it takes alot longer than any of us expected! I cannot give you any advice as to help with your hormones, i feel bad to read that you are crying so much and then angry, that has to be hard. I am here to write to if need be so type away, if you want! I hope you can get some help very soon, is there not a clinic that could help you ? Or perhaps the hospital? Try to find some and in the meantime, try to focus ahead on better days! Maybe someone will read your letter and have some advice, sorry i couldn't help! Chin up eh?

Hi pace, to clarify for you....my doctor did not seem at all surprised when I mentioned that I thought it was weird that after several good weeks I was back a few steps again. Yes I has been much more active the two days previous to the appt. Drove to a friends two hours away(with two other friends in tow) and Christmas shopped for two entire days before driving back home....in jeans that were way too tight across the belly, lol. Guess it's still too early for my fav jeans, elastic top pants still a must!! At least I wasn't sore till the day after I got home from my girls getaway! Take it easy

Haa haaaa! Well I can see why you are sore! I have tried on "regular" pants but they just bug me too much! I am just gonna wear sweats and those type of pants until i find comfort in the others. Comfort is more important to me right now, than fashion! I see you are in Ontario, so am i ! I am in Northwestern Ontario, where are you? ( if you don't mind me asking) Thanks for the info , even though i feel i am progressing, its reassuring to know that pain felt even at this point is alright! Keep smilin eh?

Hey again pace, I'm in central Ontario about an hour and a half north of Toronto in beautiful cottage country. Yep, pretty sure it was the rush to wear "normal clothes" that probably did not help. Pretty quick to get into my PJs when we got back to my friends to retire for the night. Was getting so tired of sweats and am too stubborn to go buy new bigger pants...ain't gonna happen! Glad I could be of some help and that we are in the same canoe eh? Take care

You must be near Haliburton? Muskoka? Ha ha, I am not good at direction!! Shameful !! When i was a kid my family had a beautiful cottage there and we spent all summer on the lake! I was originally from Toronto, Etobicoke, but have been here alot of years now, 30 odd to be exact.
From reading these letters it seems everyone is impatient and wanting to be "normal" again! I hear them all!!!!! Whose paddling this canoe anyway? Cheers Pal ! Happy healing to you!
