Gee sorry to hear that cherryblossom67, i guess i didn't think to ask you, not too sensitive of me. I hope all is well for you now, and yes, I do agree with what you said that we do all have different reasons for the surgery, and that does affect how we look at our situations . I too do not care if I wear jeans now, i just want to be comfortable, as i have said. Even though I am healing now and sometimes am feeling some discomfort, i am still going to enjoy each day and try to stay positive! Life goes on, days go by, and we will all be back to normal ! Enjoy the day everyone!!! Good to chat cherryblossom!

Hey anomar!

Its difficult being patient waiting to get back to normal, no matter who you are or what you do. The point is, you have to wait until your body is ready to work for you in those ways. As time goes by, if you are resting and taking care of yourself in the ways needed, you will get back to your life and this time will be only a memory. Happy healing!

I am almost eight weeks post op and I still have some sharp pains occansionally in my stomach. The doctor said it was just "healing pain" and I should be okay. I am comfortable with him so I trust his judgement. I am also wiped out at the end of the day and it is hard to adjust to the "new me" for right now. I am used to being able to do what I need to do to get things done. Putting up my Christmas tree (I just decorated it) put me to bed at 8:00 but like all the others there are good days. It is encouraging to read everyone's replies and realize that "we" are not alone and have support.

Hi brinaboo...got my tree Saturday. It's a pretty white one just as pure as I, lol. I usually get a real one but my hubby works out west (3000 km) away 8-10 weeks at a time since last Janurary so I thought I would invest in a fake one as I am not sure that I could do the whole real thing. He just got home Saturday.....after leaving me to hang with the whole hyster thing at 6 wks post-op. Tired me out as well but tonight got him to get the xmas stuff out of storage and put a few other things out. Haven't been so excited to do xmas at all during the last 10 years as I have always had to work shiftwork at the hospital and have missed (or had to get up at 3 am) most of it. So glad I quit before surgery. Still having very tired days here as well and I think it is all perfectly "normal"
Hey pace...don't be sorry at all, just glad my situation was found out at the yearly that us gals have to go through before it got really ugly! Take care all and....MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Happy to do it this year (doesn't seem like such a chore now) Cris

Thanks for the encouragement. On many levels I am glad I decided to go ahead and have the hysterectomy but it was definitely more than I signed on for. My doctor was supposed to do the procedure vaginally, when he got in there he could not do it that way and had to open me up and then he had to take an ovary that I was not planning on and then to top all that off, after my staples were removed (one week post-op) my stiches opened up and I had to go to the emergency room and then have home health start coming out and my husband had to change my bandages (wet/dry wound pack) twice a day. I was not even aware this could happen. I have never been so glad in my life as to when that "hole" closed up and I did not have to have bandages changed twice a day.

I'm just so thankful for this site and for all of you
Honestly I do not know what I would do if I had to go this alone...One of the things that has helped me get thru this is every morning and evening I give thanks for something I'm grateful for...I've also started a gratitude journal and usually write them down, but not always. Just the act of giving thanks makes everything easier to deal with. My new mantra is that it can always be worse, so I'm looking on the sunny side. I'm celebrating life!

I'm 8 weeks out and still need my pillow under the seatbelt. My belly still feels swollen and tender - hurts to lean against anything. Sitting it the most uncomfortable for my belly, and I go back to my sitting job on the 26th.
I'm having trouble getting off the stool softeners and Milk of Magnesia that I've taken just about every day since surgery. I have excruciating gas pain in my belly when I try to go off - has anyone else experienced this? i don't know what to do - I can't go to work in that pain. I'm eating lots of fiber, and Gas- X doesn't help at all.

I'm 4 mo post-op and had some similar symptoms at 3 mo. Turned out I had a pretty bad infection that they are still treating today.
The DRs do seem to have a "buck it up" attitude toward recovery which can be frustrating...so THANKS to all of you for your supportive words of wisdom. It's good to know it's not "just me" when it come to the recovery process.
