Vacuuming too soon?

I am 7 1/2 weeks out. I have been vacuuming with my light weight sweeper for at least a week having no troubles. But today at my job I started using another vacuum and it was HEAVY!! I started feeling pulls in my incision area. That wasn't good. SO I wondered if your doctors have warned anyone about vacuuming?

I guess I'll have to stay away from that vac at least another 5 weeks or so...I have read where you shouldn't do vacuuming at least until week 12. Ladies be careful using a heavy vac because you will feel the pain. (either that or I am wimpy!) .

Vacuuming too soon?

Vacuuming was the one thing I was told specifically to avoid until I go back to the doc at 6 weeks. I don't think you're wimpy at all. He told me we use all stomach muscles as we vacuum.

Take it easy!

Vacuuming too soon?

I wondered what the big issue is with sweeping and / or vacuuming..... couldn't imagine how a little sweeping would cause a problem.

Then it occurred to me.... when sweeping (or vacuuming) your body repeats the same motion over and over and over.... If this puts any stress on our abdomens, then I'm sure it's not good for incision or internal stitches.

Add to that the weight of a vacuum, etc..... and no wonder there's such a restriction on that particular activity....

Not sure about my "theory".... just my thoughts.....

Guess my dust bunnies will have to rule a little while longer!!

hormones?

Ok, Need information on homones. I am on the patch (surgery 11-5-07). But I do not want to stay on is long. I am 41 and have been going through hot flashes for a year and half.

I felt so good yesterday that I was up and around in my house fiddling. But I have paid for it today. I feel like my stomach is going to fall out. In bed most of the day.

Need feedback.

Vacuuming too soon?

Definitely am not going to try vacuuming for some time to come. I just bought one of those fancy new Bissells but they weigh a TON! Hurts even to think about it

tdjeva, yes it's much too soon to be up fiddling around the house for very long. We learn as we go

vacuuming too soon?

I'm not sure, but I kinda think I remember my doctor saying "Never, ever vacuum again!"

That's my story to my family and I'm stickin' to it!

Ladybug,
I think you're right. That's exactly what I remember my doctor saying. :bigwink:
