Appearance of incision site

Hi everyone! I returned home Wednesday--had TAH on Monday a.m. Today I've noticed my incision up under my belly (yes, I'm pretty fluffy) seems swollen or "bowed-up" on one side and flat on the other. Is this normal?

Please help--I'm a little anxious!

Sorry to hear about your swelling...I actually had a tummy tuck with my TAH, and the plastic surgeon is having me wear a garmet kinda like Spanx to keep the swelling down. My incision site is puffed out on one side too, but the plastic surgeon says it is normal that the lumps and unevenness will smooth out over the next 6 months. So your incision sounds pretty normal.
Good luck!

I am almost 6 months out and I am still a little "lopsided". The left side of my incision seems to kind of bulge a little. I am still hoping that it will return to normal though. I have been told that it can take up to a year to completely heal.

Hey Katie,

I'm with everyone else. Mine looks like a face where someone's sucking in their bottom lip!! Yah, mine is very uneven but at least it's closed...lol...

It's funny I said this to my Mom the other day, I'm just so happy it's all over I could have had a 13incher with big stitch lines for all I cared!!

LOL Lisa! Yep, I'm glad mines's closed too. It's actually feeling better today. Using a pad folded in half and tucked up under my belly has really helped, too.

You take care, my dear!

Katie, mine looked the same also. It has healed nicely, and I have no problems with it.

I did, however use one of my husbands tube socks on the incision to keep it dry. It was much more comfy than a pad. I also used one of his handkerchiefs too! LOL It is funny how we improvise!
