should I postpone this surgery...

I am 4 weeks away from a SAH, I've been in need of this for over three years now and finally am going through with it. However, the place I work is under a great deal of termoil, a situation that might put me out of work and along with it my husband, we work at the same place. This would happen within weeks of the surgery if it does happen, if it doesn't, the company itself would then be relocated. Being a key player in the company, I don't truly know how I'll handle it all being in recovery.....it's not like looking for a job fresh out of the castle would be an option, and having it move is no less frustrating. Anyone juggle the world of work so heavily b4 they had surgery? Did anyone face difficult situations and then just cancel and try another time? I am so confused and have only a few weeks to decide.....

Big S

You are in a tough place right now.
I think that maybe you and your DH should discuss it. Weigh all the issues and then make the decision that works best for you. How much would you and your health suffer if you decide to postpone? How hard would finding new jobs be for you both if necessary? Would you be able to handle either situation better - healthwise or financially? Only you know what kind of pain you're having.

Best wishes, I'll be praying that all works out well for you.

What a difficult situation for you. I could not image the stress you most be under. My questions are:

Are you having this surgery with health insurance coverage?

Is the health insurance through this company you now work for?

What happens to the insuance if the company folds?

How far away will the new location be if the company moves? If so will you have to find a new Doctor?

Remember, your health and well-being are an important factor in all this. I wish you and your DH good luck and clear thoughts.

Thank you for the support, this is truly frustrating. The company covers me on insurance so if it did close, so long as I've already had the surgery, I'll be ok. If he closed right b4 hand, well that will dictate if I go in the castle or not, I can't afford this out of pocket and since I know I won't die without it, that scenario will answer my question for me.....it's hard enough to mentally prepare for this and then to have my job tossed into the air at the same time......I need a vacation....

Hi Pen2Paper2

Ok, company covers the insurance so yes, it will dictate if I go forward to the castle, if he closes the doors b4 the 6th of December, then I don't have to make a decision, it'll be made for me! However, he might not make that decision until the year is just about over. we will relocate locally, so it's not moving too far but being a key player and watching this without the ability to control the situation, well it will just about kill me! When we moved 7 years ago, I had to re-wire our computer network, phone network and setup the entire office !! A few more capable people work there now so it's not like I have no assitance, it's more a control issue.

I would rather be planning without hesitation then to be where I'm at today. I try not to talk too much with DH on this because I know he's struggling with it all internally already and Idon't want him to go off the deep end now.....at 55 he won't have many work options before him if this place does close.....the anxiety I feel today is nothing short of intense and having two kids to keep it together for, well I go back to the 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger' cliche......I'm now made of steele!!!
