Anyone ever take Gabapentin for pain?

My doc prescribed it because I am still having pain and she thinks maybe it is from scar tissue or it's nerve pain. Was wondering if anyone has taken this and if it helped. Also if there are any side effects. Trying to decide if I should take it. My doc thinks I should be healed by now. What is up with these doctors who think we should all be better after 6 weeks?

Anyone ever take Gabapentin for pain?

Took it for awhile, made me gain weight and put me asleep. The doctor made me ease into it since the last drug hit me like a brick wall, it still was a no go. If you want to stop taking the Gabapentin you have to wean off of it. They now have me on topamax. The pain is still there but it has been dial down but now I have to take Prilosec and Zantac for my stomach. There is something wrong with this picture. Hope this helps.

Elavil's a whole lot cheaper and works very well for some of us. Gabapentin didn't do anything noticeable for nerve pain I had (wrist injury from typing), Elavil worked spectacularly well. I took it at bedtime for the "drowsiness" effect.
