Anyone else in a bad mood?

Oh God...I haven't even THOUGHT about getting on a scale. I still look like I swallowed a beachball. If I get on a scale now, I'd probably burst into tears.

I had my TAH (I kept my ovaries) Friday November 9th...and up until today, I have felt really really good...great moods and feeling refreshed every single day. But today is different. I'm moody and I ache from just under my boobs to my incision site. I'm wondering if this is normal too.

Anyone else in a bad mood?

In the early weeks after my operation, I had alot of crying and depression, but now I feel great!! Some days i even feel better than great! I think you have to really let some time go by, let your body adjust to what has happened. Pains and aches are very noticeable in the early days and weeks, your body went through alot! It is different for everyone, but eventually it all sorts itself out. If there is pain that gets worse rather than better, i would call the doctor, for sure! Otherwise, sit back and try to not get bored, don't feel guilty, and trust that the good days are ahead! Good luck to you all !! Have faith eh?

Anyone else in a bad mood?

Pace has some great advice! I'm 5 days from a TAH and even though my ovaries are in I have had some weepy days. I have not ventured on my scales as I know what my reaction will be. Eating healthy, resting, and going for short walks seems to be helping me. I've been told that I can't go back to the gym for 6-8 wks so I'll next favourite thing. I still have a lot of pain which reminds me to rest and from what I've read and heard from others it is the way to go. Sending you big hugs and hoping things settle down for you.

Anyone else in a bad mood?

I had my surgery on the 7th and I had the same 10 pound weight gain! Has to be all of the IV fluids they pump into us. Now, 7 days post-op, I have lost about 12 pounds. It will come off - don't worry about it!!! Not too sure about running 3 wks post op though. Your body really needs time to heal internally.

Anyone else in a bad mood?

Hey JMary, one quick note..... even thought the doc said 6-8 weeks before hitting the gym, don't think you can go full force! I was strutting around the neighborhood walking 3 miles, and now I am paying for it, with muscle strains and cramping in the abd. Just a friendly warning of course. Remember, just becuase you "feel" better, inside is still healing!! Wouldn't want to read that you are at a set back! Have a great day everyone!!

Anyone else in a bad mood?

That's good advice....So far I'm just able to take short walks about and around the house. I'm a week now since my operation and had a BM this morning that almost killed me! I'm trying not to take my stronger pain pills but needed it this morning..and I thought inside was healed just fine!.Had any experience like that? tks again for your advice! Jo

Anyone else in a bad mood?

Oh yeah , i have had that! I had an abdominal hysterectomy, still have ovaries though. I know my healing will take awhile and i am not going to rush it anymore. I feel good too, but i can also feel inside isn't quite right yet. Someone wrote yesterday, i think, that it will take 6-12 months for complete healing, so please don't get too anxious. I know its hard to sit around and do nothing, but it is totally worth it! Yes you will be having alot of pain at the point you are at, but try to stay positive and know that the resting and doing nothing is the best thing to do for yourself right now. You know, i also tried NOT to take the pain pills, but if you need something to take the edge off, I would go for it. Why suffer with that kind of pain if you don't need to right now. You won't need to take them in the near future, and if they are also antiinflammatory, they will do the trick! (sorry about the spelling!) You aren't healed yet, but just the fact that you want to get going with your life, is a good sign! Think of the healing as taking long slow breaths, thats something that is never a bad thing! Hope the day is good to you!
