DH Losing Patience

Hi Ladies:

Has anyone noticed if their DH or partner has started losing patience?

I want to strangle him!! Today he asked me if I was going to the market because the kids didn't have anything for their school lunch. I just gave him a look and told him, "I really shouldn't be doing anything yet". He kind of realized his mistake and said, "Oh, I'll be right back then".

The other day he made it known that he didn't have any clean t-shirts. ???? And ???? I told him while he's at it, he should wash the kids' school uniforms and not to forget their underwear, washed separately of course, in warm water with just a touch of clorox.

I'm feeling guilty as it is not being able to do anything.
I work full-time just like him. Who did he think did all these things? Elves??? Well, I guess now he can appreciate me all the more now.

Sorry, I just had to vent!!!

Hang in there, Martha. Sorry you're having to go through this extra aggravation. You've got the right idea, though - your only job at the moment is to take care of yourself and heal well. You only get one chance to do that.

DH Losing Patience

Go ahead and vent! It feels really good sometimes.

Mine's not really losing patience, just forgetting that I'm still recovering. Like yours, mine will ask "what's for dinner tonight?" My response, "I don't know, what are you making?" I did go out yesterday with a friend for a couple of hours and was exhausted when I got home. I planted myself firmly in the recliner for the rest of the day. We just did left overs for dinner and he made sure the kids got their showers and got them in bed. I didn't do anything today either. I make him a list of stuff for the grocery and leave it by his keys so when he goes out he knows he needs to stop.

I think they are taken aback by just how much we do when they aren't paying attention (wait, they pay attention?). Like you, I just remind him I can't do things yet. I did drive to get the kids after school this week, but told him it wasn't something I was going to do every day. It wasn't painful, but I could tell a big difference between driving and just riding in the car.

Don't feel guilty (easier said than done, I know), but you are recovering. You are under doctor's orders to not do anything! Take it easy.

Help Me understand

I had my LVAH on Oct 29th, kept ovaries....I am 2 weeks post op today....I am up and start driving on Wed. and doing light housework. I cook ,do laundry ( have son carry baskets to laudry roon) get up and down 20 times a day to let dogs and cats out.. On the outside i look fine, I still ache on the inside, bleeding gets worse at night and I think my ovaries stopped working because i had to get Ambien for insomnia and I cry alot.....How much is to much? I feel like a looser if i just lay around and do nothing....Can someone tell me whats normal?

There is a huge variety of normal. I had an LAVH as well and it's easy to think that we can do more since we don't have the big incision like our sisters who had a TAH. However, the surgery inside is the same (aside from all the other repairs some have). You may be doing too much. It's easy to do, but we have to remind ourselve that we still have a lot of healing to do inside where we can't see. It's possible your ovaries are working right now. I've read that it's possible after surgery. Hopefully they'll wake up. If the symptoms continue, talk with you doctor about it.

I've been fortunate to not have the insomnia. I work shift work, so my sleep habits were messed up before surgery. My body enjoys sleeping at night and being awake during the day. I feel human again! I am bored, but haven't made it to my list of stuff to do though. I try to stay in my pjs when I'm home as a reminder that I'm still recovering. I put on clothes only if I go out. I have done laundry, well, direct it while my kids do all the bending and lifting. They've been a great help! DH is a doll as well.

boredom

I'm a little bored too. I made my DH take me to the library yesterday, so now I have some good stuff to read.

If you have a netflix membership you can watch movies on demand on your computer (this requires a broadband connection and Internet Explorer). They also have TV shows. I was catching up on 30 Rock yesterday.

The other thing I planned to do, and haven't done yet-- photo albums. I have lots of pictures that are not in albums. Even bought a couple of albums ahead of time.

I think the boredom is a bit dangerous because I start thinking about cleaning I can do... bad princess!

Oh, just thought of another task-- writing to my grandmother. She's in a nursing home and loves to get mail.
