Other Nov 12th's sisters experiences

TAH/BSO endo. questionable stuff sent pathology, my surgery took 1:41. Tuesday was a tough day, cath. came out at 5:30am IV left in and I took on 3 liters of fluid I did not pee until 4pm. I did not have a wrinkle or line on my body anywhere. They talked about puttting back the cath. but I finally started on my own.
I also had trouble with nausea and the food. I just did get something in me at lunch today. Otherwise I would have had to stay till tomorrow.
Glad to get home how did the rest of you make out.

My surgery (TAH left one ovary, removed fibroids and cysts) was on the 13th. I woke up in my room about one, was walking the halls around three. Threw up my juice and broth, when doc found out he said the nurses had not put my nasuea patch on. After i got the patch i was fine. Wednesday am they took out my cath and morphine pump and IV. I took several walks, showered by myself. Doc came around 4 and said if i could eat my dinner (first solids) I could go home that night I went home that night, slept ok in my own bed with lots of pillows. DH is so wonderful taking care me. I feel great! Thanks for all the support here!

Surgery 11/12, home 11/14

My surgery was Monday, TAH/kept ovaries. Blood count 7 (as opposed to normal of 14) so transfusions were threatened. I refused, got iron pills. I feel great, was up and walking 4 hrs after recovery time - wore my crown to do my sisters proud!!

My big issue is overdoing it. I have little/no tolerance for staying still. I'm already being "bad". Got up, took shower (alone, no DH supervision), dropped the soap twice, and just doing too much in general.

Thanks so much to my sisters!! I've laughed and cried while reading posts and articles.

Best wishes to all,
Karleen

Hi -- not sure where the new thread button is -- I am 44 I had TVH surgery on Monday at 10:30 am. the plan was to remove uterus, ovaries, fix bladder, rectum and everything else that had fallen. I did not get to talk to my doctor after the surgery. My husband met me in my room after recovery and told me the doctor could not remove the ovaries cause they were too high up and he ran out of time because my uterus was larger than he expected and it took all his time to get it out. My doctor did not come see me while in the hospital until last night (Wed at 5:00 PM) to say I could go home. So -- I am home with a supra pubic tube (to retrain my bladder) and a vagina that is full of packing. The only real pain I have is due to the packinng. It feels like I have a big cardboard box tucked up there. My instructions say the packing stays in for 7 days after discharge. Does anyone else have packing? What exactly does it supposed to do? --thanks

I had my TAHBO on Monday. They were 3 hours late getting me in and I think I was in my room around 2pm. I had some nausea but thank god no puking. The gave me some meds in my IV and I felt better. They put me on a hormone patch and so far so good. I wasn't having bowel sounds until late Tuesday evening. So no real food until Wed. If kinda upset my stomach. Finally got to come home and I completely sure that I have over done it but....who doesn't. Any advice on things to do while keeping down? I missed all my "sisters" while I was in the castle with no computer. THANK YOU TO ALL OF MY SISTERS!!!

PS Is anyone else crying over everything and nothing??

renee, what kind of doctor says he does not have time for what you need done? Does he expect you to come back for more of the same at a different date? Sorry you are in the dark with information from him. I'd not only taken him back his packing I send him packing. I hope your seven day report is better than it sounds so far. Glad to hear from the rest of you.

My LAVH, A & P repair, BSO was yesterday morning (11/14). I woke up from anesthesia in quite a bit of pain, but got the pump which got most of the pain under control pretty quickly. My biggest problem seems to be urinating on my own. I think everything is so swollen, it can't get through. So I came home today with a catheter. YUCK!! I am not hurting as much as I thought I would. I have been able to walk and get around at home on my own, although I do have my mother-in-law here to help. The pain is very similar to menstrual cramps (at best) and labor pains (at worst). The whole general area "down there" feels like it did after childbirth. Just kind of swollen and tender feeling. But I feel very fortunate and blessed that the pain isn't that bad. Oh, I forgot to mention that I already had a bm. They made me in the hospital before I could go home. They gave me a suppository last night and before long, I had a little bm! Yay me! Didn't hurt a bit! Feel free to email and ask ANY questions....
