I asked my doc if it was outpatient and she said I'd have to spend the night. I was really trying to avoid the expense of all that, although now in retrospect seems like I should've done it. The dh is trying to be supportive but somehow doesn't accept how serious this all is, like I have a cold or something! I still feel feverish and crappy but no temp right now. I'm just going to keep trying with the meds today and tomorrow the doc will tell me what's what. I honestly don't feel like the meds are making a dent in the infection and I feel so awful. I'm forcing myself to eat and take these meds that seem to just make me feel worse! Thanks for responding and watching out for me!

Thanks for the replies re: night sweats; I figured it was just because of the surgery. I have experienced some breast tenderness (like I did before I would start my period) but that has passed.

I have noticed that on some days I have some bright red spotting but it's not like a period--it's kind of weird because I haven't been doing anything major. I did get out to the store and did some walking around but haven't done anything to "strain" myself. Has anyone else experienced this? I know when I talked with the doctor's office they said I would have spotting for about 4 weeks. I know I'm only hitting 3 weeks post-op but I thought it the spotting would be a lot lighter in color by now.

Overall I'm feeling pretty good, although this afternoon I had a horrible backache, I ended up taking some Aleve and just stretched out on the couch and read for the afternoon. It's so hard to not do things!

I had some bleeding at 1.5 weeks post op, ended up going to the doctors as it was very heavy as in when I walked around I could literally feel it 'gush out' ewwww!!! .... and it really stunk (sorry TMI) anyway it turned out to be just leakage from the op (the blood was brown) and it has now almost stopped it is down to a very very light spotting *phew* and also the doctors nurse was pretty sure it could have been the dissolving stitches also? .... all I know is that I feel almost 100% so it mustint have been anything major?

I had a Supra cervical TAH on Nov. 12. Today my children and husband were in a Christmas parade. I found a place along the parade route to sit that had no one near me, so I could park right beside where I set up my lawn chair to watch the parade. I didn't even think about all the folks on floats throwing candy at folks watching the parade. Well when the floats got to me, they threw out tons of candy. I had no one to ask to pick it up for me and I felt bad, just ignoring it as they were watching me to see if I was happy they had thrown it. Well, I got up several times and bent over to pick up all that candy. Tonight I am hurting as bad as I did a couple of days after surgery. I have been so careful up until this time and have not bent over. I hope I haven't really messed up things inside. Do you think I have?

Potty Problems

HI! I had a TAH/BSO on 11/12. I had a terrible time w/ constipation until I started taking Miralax (thank you Hyster Sisters for the advice!). I am having a terrible time w/ urinating. It feels like someone is squeezing my bladder or that it is about to come out all together. The same goes for BMs. I have been having a lot more pain but also have been doing more than I was before. Also having a hard time w/ insomnia. Any suggestions on something non habit forming? I'm having hot flashes, but haven't decided about going on hormones. I'm 35. HELP!

Question about stitches and adhesions

2 days after TAH surgery (kept cervix and ovaries) I caught a stomach virus (in spite of all the hand washing, sanitizer, etc). How do I know if the violent convulsions from the vomiting and diah. pulled loose any internal stitches. I have not had any leakage or drainage from the sight from the beginning. Are adhesions in the future a real concern for me? I've been very careful about bending over, lifting, etc. My family has been wonderful. Even ds (15) doesn't hesitate to load dishwasher and do laundry or vacuuming. He's been great! How will I know if I did some damage internally because of this horrid virus? Is there some sort of test that can be done?

I have the same feeling after developing this bad chest cold. I mentioned it at my 2 week followup on Friday, gyn said to call her if I was coughing up yellow/green. I coughed all weekend long, so the point of throwing up =/. I called this morning, and now she wants me to call my primary care physician or go to Urgent Care, since "that area isn't her specialty". She didn't say anything about the coughing/incision, which is more of a concern to me than the yellow/green. How would I know if I've done any damage or not??

3 week Post op check

I had my 3 week check today. My incision is doing wonderful and I can take baths.

I asked about my cervix being removed and he said yes but that still means regular pap smears on the vaginal cuff. I did not have a pelvic exam today but will in 3 weeks.

I also asked about the occasional twinges of pain on the right and left side above the pubic area. He said that is from the skin etc being pulled back for the surgery opening. He says it is healing.

He did not want me returning to work this week but maybe half days next week. (4 weeks post op) I am suppose to call him at the end of the week and tell him how I am truly feeling. He also told me if my boss gives me any trouble he will call her and say "you either play by my rules or she will out the full 6 weeks" I told him she was pretty tough and he said he would be happy to handle it he has done it many times!

All in all I am doing very well!
