LAVH, BSO, A/P repairs 11/14, home 11/15 with catheter. I got the catheter out today and I feel FANTASTIC!!! I was able to drive myself to the dr, then to a few stores after the cath was removed. All approved by the dr. My last pain meds were Sun. afternoon. Have taken ibuprofen as needed since. But that's only been about 5 times. Mainly for the discomfort from the cath. I feel like a new woman! I'm sure I will sleep like a baby shortly, but for now I'm feeling great. It is going to be hard not to overdo it. I say that now....It will probably be a whole different story in a few hours. I am so glad to have this site and you all to go through this with. I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.

I wanted to add...If any of you are experiencing external discomfort "down there" from vag. hyst. or a/p repairs, I pulled out an old trick from when I had my babies. I have been lining my pads with a few "Tucks" wipes/pads. Just put 3 or 4 on top of your pad/pantyliner. They are so soothing. Also using Lanacaine spray as needed. Works well for discomfort.

I had mine on Friday 11/16 too. I came home on Sunday. I had the first bm today and it was not too awful. I haven't felt great since though...

Significant other acting different but, I can't quite put my finger on it.

Good Luck!!

Professional help made a difference

Ok...it was hard parting with some $$ to get it done, but getting some professional help with cleaning my house was worth it. I'm sitting in the recliner in the living room and thinking it's wonderful not to be looking at a mess.

If I don't get a lot more able pretty soon, I may have to get some professional help again. Hubby is wonderful, but his standard of clean pretty sad.

Hope all of you have a fabulous Thanksgiving Eve tomorrow.

:-)

Got out the staples today, TAH/BSO 11/12, my mound is completely numb except in one line that runs from my incision down to my left leg crease that has been burning since I got the staples out. This area hurt when the staples came out too. Any ideas what this could be. They said my incision looked good. I am still waiting on path. report.
On the hormone issue I have not had any problems yet, and my doctor is the one who told me my body has 6 wks. worth stored.
I want time to go to my homopathic care provider for this part of my treatment. I am not that in to horse urine, perfer a natural approach.

Things are better than I thought. How about low back pain, is that normal? Seems my low back aches all the time. Similar to back labor, just not at the worse! I still have not had a bm. Hum, might explain the back pain! I will call the dr tomorrow if none!

My nurses said the low back pain could be because of the way we lay during surgery. Also, lack of stretching and laying around a lot. Mine has eased considerably since I've been able to get up and around.

I have been up and moving around since a few hours after my surgery. I have also been doing light streches as premited at least for my legs. I also have been moving as much as permited tomorrows post op will tell me more I am hoping. I figured it was from the prone position in surgery. My DH needs to give a good message it would help..

Hi there: Re your low back pain... I had same and as soon as I had my first BM after surgery, I felt so much better. So that could be a possibility :>)
